Do people really pray in this type of tongue?and if so who are they speaking too?

another question......Where does it ever say in the bible, anywhere that either angels or the people talking to the angels spoke in another langauge other than one that is understood? The reason why i post this question is that some people try to say that there is 2 types of tongues one can speak in. One of them supposedly does not require interpretation (becasue it is the tongue that no one understands) and thats the one EVERYONE i have heard speak in. it goes kinda like this.....eg: har-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-daOReg: lalalalala-ra-badalalalalala-ra-badalalalalala-ra-badalalalalala-ra-badalalalalala-ra-badalalalalala-ra-badasay for example i did this in english saying the same sylables over and over eg: hap-pyhap-pyhap-pyhap-pyhap-pyhap-pyhap-pyhap-pyhap-pyhap-pydo i mean anything different the second or the 20th time? no. of course not.God bless.

Greetings dear saintsI think it's awful that this is the note that I am making a come back to SI on, but I feel moved to respond to this one. let me begin by saying, that I was largely brought up into the right frame of Christian thinking by a man whom I greatly admire, Mr. Leonard Ravenhill among many many others on the forum. Their sermons are deep, thought provoking and convicting. It was through these very sermons that I began to seek the baptism of the Spirit of God. I only then realized that I was not "filled with the Spirit", and that this event is one that I was lacking in my fellowship with God. A person is born again when they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior, but the Baptism of the Spirit of God is a separate event and the filling of the Spirit is also a separate event.I always imagined that when I got filled with the spirit I would receive certain gifting, but I actually never wanted the gift of tongues. I had heard being degraded by so many preachers including I man I still greatly admire, Mr. Leonard Ravenhill. No if anyone asks me for a recommendation on sermons, Ravenhill is definitely among my top 5, and I still follow his teachings today. I have heard every one of His sermons on SI, and they are truly inspired and Spirit lead! I have to say however in a few areas I do not agree with Him, but it is not a major point of contention, after all I he is not my servant, who am I to judge him? I do know and understand now that, as the scriptures say, "we know in part" and no one is above that rule. Ravenhill once said, "The older I get, the more I find I don't know".Concerning the manifestations of the Spirit of God I would like to warn you not to be too hasty in making your judgments supposing that all of them are counterfeit. I have seen those who operate false gifts, and among them are two classes, those who are speaking out of themselves either because they are deluded or because they want to deceive other. It is sad that some are in bondage of delusion and for these we ought not to mock them or become angry with them, for our anger is usually not from God. God loves even the deluded people unconditionally, and their state makes him sorrowful. We ought rather to pray for these souls that the veil be taken from their hearts my dear brothers and sisters. God wants to work but He will only work through us and through our prayers. There is another group displaying false gifts, and those are they who are "demon possessed" or "demon lead" (I make a distinction between the tow but in essence it is the same thing). The reason I make the distinction is because some people are not aware that they are possessed and so I do not class these as "demon lead". Among these are Mormons. The ones I class as demon lead are among the Satanists, witches and wizards. These people exist dear saints and they are bent on doing evil against the children of God, and they are lead by demons.Having said this, I can understand the frustration that many of you feel towards the "tongues people", but let me say the gift of tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit of the Living God. We are sometimes dangerously close to blasphemy when we criticize the gift itself. The gift is essentially a very good gift; it is unfortunate that some people use it poorly, as the Church of the Corinthians, whom Paul exhorted to use the gift, but to use it orderly. I will say aging, the gift of tongues is a good gift of God, and those who use it diligently are edified and built up in spirit according to the scriptures and the experience of many saints (myself included). I do say that salvation is not in tongues and some have misapplied the scriptures saying that because everyone spoke in tongues on the day of Pentecost, then all must speak in tongues. This is not so.The thing which is profound about tongues is this, there is the gift of speaking in tongues, and then there are plain speaking in tongues. All can speak in tongues, but it is not all must, on the other hand not all have the gift of speaking in tongues. This is a hard topic but let us explain it scripturally beginning with this passage on spiritual gifts:“There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills" (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)Notice first that there are in verses 4-6; gifts, ministries and activities of the Godhead. The gifts refer to the working of the Holy Spirit. The ministries refer to the work of the Lord Jesus Christ in us, this is the 5-fold ministry (spoken of in Ephesians4:11). The activities or operations refer to how God chooses to operate a gift in one person’s life. For example in Acts 11 and 21 Agabus operated the gift of prophecy through drama, but others operate it verbally as those who first received Him in Ephesus in Acts 19.Look at the 9 gifts of the Spirit, and then look at some the development areas of the Christian life. Notice that we all aspire to wisdom, but not all are given a word of wisdom. A word of wisdom is divine revelation concerning a future event. We all aspire to knowledge, but not all are given a word of knowledge. A word of knowledge is divine revelation concerning something present or past which could not have otherwise been known by natural means. We all pray, "Increase our faith", but not all have a word of faith, as Elijah demonstrated when he said "it shall not rain but by my word" 1 Kings 17:1. We must all pray for the sick but not all have gifts of healings. We all believe God for a measure of divine intervention in our lives but not all operate the working of miracles. The gift of prophecy does not necessarily involve a revelation as in a word of wisdom and a word of knowledge but, as it is written (1 Cor14:3) prophecy is to comfort, exhort and edify. We must all seek to comfort, exhort and edify others, but not all have the gift of prophecy. We must all seek to grow in discernment (as in Hebrews5:14) but not all have discerning of spirits. Now here is where it gets interesting. In my early days, though I myself speak in tongues when I taught the word, I taught that not all can speak in tongues. I held vehemently to these some verses in 1 Corinthians 12 and this how I would teach and expound on them:"Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues?" do all interpret? (1 Corinthians 12:29:30). I would the proceed to show that the apostle here is asking a rhetorical question, so if I answer yes all speak in tongues, then I must answer yes all are apostles, prophets, teachers etc. So from this logic not all speak in tongues. Sill, having established this, I found that my experiences did not support my teachings. I am non-denominational, and for I period I was visiting some Pentecostal circles and I found that a very large proportion of them were speaking in genuine tongues. At the end of most services they would ask, "Who does not speak in tongues?" And about 30 people would come to the front, and every time only between 5 and 8 of them would leave still not speaking in tongues. This pattern was fairly consistent in all Pentecostal circles here in Zimbabwe. Though I do not agree with their methods their results were intriguing, and I could not understand this discrepancy for a long time. Why was the Spirit moving in this way I wondered? Finally the Lord began to show me something about tongues and the gift of tongues. By His own grace I operate the gift, and I slowly began to see differences in how others moved in this area. By the grace of God I can speak in many many tongues very fluently. Sometimes when I pray with someone I here a tongue which I have never heard before, and I can pick it up instantly. I thought this was everyone's experience, but apparently only the gift works in this way. Also I found that many people struggle to pronounce the utterance fluently and their vocabulary is limited thus the har-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba-dahar-ba experience described by our Brother. If these people continue fervently for hour they will become fluent and their vocabulary will increase. In tongues there are many different languages and sometimes we move known languages. I remember when I received the baptism of the Spirit; I was shocked to receive the gift of tongues. I literally found myself speaking in different languages, very fervently as I wept bitterly. I never expected or desired the gift but God works as He wills. On the first night I finally had the chance to answer many questions I had, and I was full of faith and of the Spirit of God. I asked the Father, "Lord give me the utterance to praise your Holy name!" Immediately I began to speak with a strange tongue. Then I asked for the utterance to worship Him, I was shocked to find that it was a different utterance. I asked for many utterances, all the while I was being filled more and more by His Spirit. Lastly I was moved to ask fore utterance to rebuke the evil spirits in the area where I lived; as I thought of all the prostitutes and drug addicts outside (I lived in America at this time, although we also have prostitutes and drug addicts here in Zimbabwe). To my surprise I began to sing a very beautiful song under the unction of God. I did not know one could sing in tongues at that time, but by the grace of God I did. Demons can not stand worship or peace. I was expecting a very warlike cry and rebukes to come from my mouth, but I was actually moved in the realm of worship. I understand now that the peace of God crushes Satan under our feet (Romans 16:20).Now came the question which I was dying to know ever since I read that passage. The tongues of angels. I asked God to give me utterance to call His angels to worship His Holy name. This utterance was very fast, I could barely keep up with it. It was so strong I became frightened, and as soon as I was afraid it ceased. Fear and faith don't mix, and when I was afraid I was no longer walking in faith. Still I dared not try that again, but by the leadings of the Spirit, my brother-in-law (IRONMAN from SI) was filled with the Spirit and was given a mighty anointing. And so we began to pray together. At this time only He was operating the gift of discerning of spirits and he saw many mysteries. One day we were making intercession and praying fervently and we both began to speak in that tongue. When we finished praying, I told him excitedly, "that was a tongue of angels!" He was equally excited when he told me that he had discerned 4 angels at that time, and when we had prayed they went out.Let me explain this as best as I can. The utterance comes from the Holy Spirit, and so you can only speak what the Spirit allows you to speak. It is not at all like a casual conversation with angels but it is entirely under unction. Never seek to communicate with or pray to or worship angels but, respect their ministry and acknowledge in your own heart that it exists. You don't have to profess it but it is not good to deny it altogether. Angels are God's servants not ours, so we pray to God, and He sometimes chooses to answer by the hand of His angels but we are for the most part no aware of it. You don't have to ask God to send angels to protect you, you jus ask God to protect you and He will decide whether to send angels or another means which is more appropriate.Just to round up the question of tongues... The reason why so many Pentecostals speak in tongues is because they are excising their faith in that area, but yet not all of them have the "gift of tongues", the gift is much more powerful. Now I understand what Paul was saying when he said, "but covet earnestly the best gifts" 1 Cor12:31. I used to wonder, "how can I covet a gift which it is not God's will for me to move in?" And then it is more interesting, in chapter 14 verse 1 and 5 where he says, "Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy" and "I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification." Why should we pursue prophecy if it's possibly not God's will for us to move in this? Why does he wish we all speak in tongues and even more that we prophesied? There are only two possibilities it seems to me, either I have not fully understood the passage or the apostle himself did not full understand what he was saying and was beginning to contradict himself. Since the latter was clearly unacceptable, I was forced to re-examine my views. This is what I found. There is a level of prophesying which we can all operate but not all have the gift, and there is a level of tongues we can all operate but not all have the gift of tongues. In this context Paul begins to make sense and the puzzle has been solved for me anyway. In ChristGabriel

Hi brother Gabriel/Jimm,I can't find much fault in what you wrote and am Happy to meet you.Only one or two sentences sort of didn't sit right with me ... and I'd like to maybe have you clarify this if you wouldn't mind. You said:Quote:"I asked God to give me utterance to call His angels to worship His Holy name."~ Now as I understand things ... they worship Him constantly and also, we don't command angels to do anything or even speak to them unless they visit us by God's command and seek our replies to them ... which is a very rare event for folks. But then you sort of changed this with this next quote to something more in line of what I Do feel in part, except for the first sentence in it, that I underlined, so I was left confused if you feel we 'do' speak to angels or we don't, or is it only the fallen angels you "sang" in the spirit over ?? ....Quote: "It is not at all like a casual conversation with angels but it is entirely under unction. Never seek to communicate with or pray to or worship angels but, respect their ministry and acknowledge in your own heart that it exists. You don't have to profess it but it is not good to deny it altogether. Also brother Jimm/Gabriel, I wanted to explain why I had to laugh at WDJD's post and posted my rub-ba-da-ba-do- thing there. It is mostly "Pastors" that I was thinking of there ... and it was either laugh or cry at that point. They're supposed to be examples, but when the Holy Spirit is "not" on them and their "tongues" are originating from the flesh only by "copying some mentor", it sort of turns my stomach pretty badly.Hope you weren't offended. Thanks brother.Annie

Paul was trying to overstate something in order to make a point. He was NOT teaching that we can or should speak in the language of angels. Yet many today have taken this one verse completely out of context and made a doctrine of it. Thats just foolishness. My personal opinion is that Hebrew is the language spoken in Heaven. In every single instance where scripture mentions a voice from heaven being spoken, and it states what language it was in... it was Hebrew. Both OT & NT. This was even true when Jesus spoke to Paul from heaven on the road to Damascus... unless you read the NIV, and then it's mistakenly changed to Aramaic. (Most of the other modern versions say Hebrew, or Jewish tongue, etc... the NIV says Aramaic, and is wrong)Note that Paul did not speak Hebrew as a "mother-tongue"... yet thats the language Jesus spoke to him in.So, if you want to speak in an angelic tongue... learn Hebrew.Krispy

sis anniei can attest to the truth of what Gabriel is saying in that i was with him during this time. in asking the Lord to give him utterance to command the angels to worship Him, that had to do with Gabriel (who was skeptical of such gifts) checking to see if this was real or not. He had asked the Lord to give Him utterance for several other things too but didn't mention those in the post. unlike the other tongues in which we sometimes spoke/speak in, this was not one which we were unctioned to speak in very often. since that time i've been more aware of the Lord's angels about me going about the Lord's work so it's not like "hey how you doin? cup of tea" kinda thing but on occasion the Lord will respond to a prayer or need of mine by sending an angel to assist me. let it be known that i don't ask God specifically to send an angel but He does so of His own choosing.

bro Krispywhile it appears that Paul was trying to make a point (which he was) by mentioning tongues of angels he acknowledges their existence. if they didn't it would be a lie to mention them as he did. i can attest the their existence because i've heard my brother speak in them and so have i. now when this happened he was at his home and i was at mine and when the Lord brought us together on the day we both spoke in them we'd not talked about it but when it happened it was confirmation for us both of something the Lord had shown us before hand. now we're not saying go out and seek this coz we certainly didn't, in fact we didn't even want anything from the Lord save for kicking a few habits and getting into heaven, God evidently had other plans. we're not saying go out and seek this but we are simply testifying and speaking of what the Lord has done in our live in His own sovereignty and for His own purposes. we are not teaching it as doctrine, it is just a testimony.i made the mistake of mentioning it in passing right after this started to happen on s.i. and got into a dust up about it and the fallout from which has cropped up in subsequent discussions. i've had to explain myself time and time again in private and some people don't believe it which is cool. the bottom line is i know it to be true and the Lord confirms it and that's good enough for me. i'm not trying to convince anyone, just offering my testimony. The Lord has shown us so much using all manner of illustration and poured out all kinds of revelation on us which we've not shared on s.i. because it would be controversial and would really do more harm than good. so in this matter Krispy i disagree with you (as we have and do on others). i guess at the end of the day if you or anyone else had been there it would be real to you like it is to us. again noone has to belive this in the least we're just sharing testimony. we know what the Lord is doing in us and through us (it's way more than we bargained for) and trust and know the Lord is indeed at work.love y'all brethren

To sure, angels do speak in a language. That should be obvious, but he was not saying that we would. He was using an overstatemet to make his point. Kinda like if I said "I could drive this car from here to the moon, but it doesnt mean I have to like it."
