Why would we be interested in the gospel of Judas Iscariot? And when did he write this, since he killed himself after Christ was crucified?If this isnt an April fools joke, then obviously this is one of hundreds of fake gospels written at that time. But I'm sure next year there will be a new modern version out that will include "The Gospel of Saint Judas".Now, Judas may very well have written an epistle. An epistle is just a letter... so I suppose he possibly could have written a suicide note.Krispy

This is more gnostic hogwash. It wasn't written by Judas, just like the "gospel of Thomas" wasn't written by Thomas. Just another piece of crap that Elaine Pagels, the Jesus Seminar and their minions will use so they don't have to think about facing God on judgment day. Iraneaus actually wrote about this "gospel" in his work Against Heresies. Nothing new, they just decided to bring it out around Easter, like they do every year. They time these things for emotional purposes, b/c they know that even liberal scholars reject Pagels and the Jesus Seminar. Nothing to worry about brethren. More of the same old junk. Expect more next Easter.
I think we will be ok. Becuase this will cause people to come boldly against christ. How is this good? Well because it causes us to know what we believe, and it provides more evangelical opportunities, much like the divinci code. Men and Women of God thank God, because you salvation draws near. All of this is written about. But the culmination of the times is manifest so that Jesus can return in flaming fire to purify the corruption which proceeds from this world. Take advantage of this, becuase there is a great revival coming.

I read in a newpaper article that Iraneus mentioned this in his writings while criticising people who, in his day, were overemphasising Judas' importance. Apparently he mentioned a book that was attributed to Judas. My question is, did he write it before or after he betrayed Christ? And if after, was it before or after he hanged himself? ;-) Apparently it claims that Jesus asked Judas to betray him, as he was too afraid to face the cross. At the end of the day, whether he betrayed him at Jesus request or not, he still is accountable for his actions, and could have potentially repented if he didn't kill himself first.

i watched the show and as soon as the part about Judas having been told secret knowledge i knew in my spirit it was blasphemy. then it went on to talk about how Christ laughed at the last supper (at the disciples) about a false piety and that the one they prayed for made everything but was not worthy of worship but there was another whom Judas knew of beyond discription...blasphemy...

I Tivo'd the show and only watched the first 10 minutes of it so far. I'll probably watch the whole thing tonight. Of course this "gospel of Judas" is a fakery. I dont need to see the show to know that.But one thing I thought was funny was at the beginning of the show the narrator something to the effect that Judas was the "Apostle" who betrayed Jesus. This just shows you how ignorant National Geographic is... Judas was never an Apostle. None of them were until after Pentecost, and of course Judas was dead at that point. And if he wasnt dead, he certainly was not one of the "twelve" at that point.What I do find interesting about this whole thing is that supposedly Jesus and Judas has a special relationship where Judas has inside knowledge, and he was chosen to do this act of betrayal, and could not go against God's will.
