The Lamentation of Isaiah . . . Isaiah 64.6 NLT - We are all infected and impure with sin. When we proudly display our righteous deeds, we find they are but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall. And our sins, like the wind, sweep us away. ***God in his Infinite Mercy has made a provision for Man’s Sin in the substitutionary Atoning death of Jesus Christ - (The Vicarious Atonement). From Genesis to Revelation the underlying theme of the Bible is God’s redemptive work in His interaction with mankind. In Genesis 22 we read of the testing of Abraham:22.1 - Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied. 2 Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about." ***Later in the chapter Isaac asks his father Abraham: "The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son."***Some 2000+ years later God provide another lamb, His only begotten Son, sacrificed on the same Mt. Moriah. The prophet John the Baptist, upon seeing Jesus for the first time cried out: “Behold the Lamb of God”.In the last book of the Bible we read:Revelation 710And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."Ephesians 2.8-9: 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9not by works, so that no one can boast. God has made provision for our sins through the crucifixion of his Son. The long list of condemnation, our trespasses, our missing the mark, was nailed to the Cross; He that knew no sin was made sin for us. Jesus paid it all. His last statement from the Cross-before His death: John 1930 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. “IT IS FINISHED”. The divine design of God in regards to Salvation was completed. Prophecy had been fulfilled. There is nothing you or I can do in our own merit to save our souls. It is the gift of God through faith in Jesus. It is the efficacy of the Christ to forgive sins. Jesus didn’t die for us because we were worthy. We are worthy because He died for us. In sum and substance, “SIN” does not send a “sinner” to hell. UNBELIEF sends an UNBELIEVER to hell….
