Have You Been Broken Upon the Stone?

Jesus Christ, the Head Corner Stone, the One the builders rejected, makes a very very importantstatement in the parable of the Wicked Husbandmen. Luke 20:9-18Vs.17. And he beheld them, and said, What is thisthen that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?Vs.18. Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shallbe broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, itshall grind him to powder.It would seem, in light of His Word, there is achoice. One can be broken upon the Stone, or onecan be crushed to powder, by the Stone.1 Peter 2:1-8 Seems to say, If you have beenbroken, he is precious. But to those who aredisobedient, He is a Stone of stumbling, and a Rock of offence, to them who stumble at His Word.Psalms 34:18; 51:17: seems to reinforce the idea of being broken.Ps.34:18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of abroken heart; and saveth such as be of acontrite spirit.Ps.51:17 The sacrifices of God are of a broken spirit: a broken and contrite heart, Oh God, thou wilt not despise.1 Cor. 11:24 says, And when He had given thanks,He brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my bodywhich is broken for you: this do in remembranceof me.As, I see it, If I will not accept the fact ofbrokeness, then I can never be cleansed by the Blood of Jesus.This would mean, a continual stumbling over theTruth of His Word, instead of a Stone of brokeness, He becomes, a Stone of stumbling and a Rock of offence. yeah I want God to keep me broken and humbled in him...I love that scripture that thoae who are humbled will be exalted and those exalted will be humbled....Im not sure where that is in the word.I love Peter 2:1-8 that is so true...I love that one :-)

Hey guys. Pastor Frin you have the ability to take it to the next level by the forums you post. I am always led to them. I agree we must be broken, broken to me is repentance, a contrite heart. Brokenness is not, in my opinion, righteousness as Christinyou seemed to imply. Our righteousness is as filthy rags, not our brokenness. True Godly sorrow leads to repentance and this is the issue of brokenness. Wailing and travailing might be the way of a true christian. I want to fall on the stone of offense and be broken! The Pharisees stumbled over the stone of offence yet in their taking of Jesus to the cross actually fulfilled the Mosaic law by taking the unblemished, pure lamb to the altar of sacrifice. And they didn't even know...Hallelujah, let us seek the judgement, the stumbling-over now. I believe there is much more offense in the cross of Christ and Jesus himself that does not get preached and we make out simple confessions that don't amount to much. Many christians have not stumbled over or have been smitten by the offense of the cross. It was a nasty thing, Jesus was of no importance to us in terms of physical traits and stature. Meaning, he did not look like much. He might have been a modern day nerd or pimple faced school boy. what would that do to our visions of him as a dark-skinned, long haired, handsome man. Many show their shallowness of the cross by wearing it around their necks. We have not been offended by it and turn to weep at our own wretchedness.Lord help me...Am i saying anything...Rich

A broken and a contrite heart, i.e. a heart deeply afflicted and grieved for sin, humbled under the sense of God's displeasure, and earnestly seeking and willing to accept of reconciliation with God upon any terms. See Isa 57:15; 61:1; 66:2; Mt 11:28. Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Let us not use brokenness, poor and mournful as our banner, as standing in the streets and showing how abased we are and glory in our own works of righteousness which are an abomination before God.

Let us glory in Christ and what He has done.

2 Corinthians 6:15-18 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Glory in Christ: 1 Corinthians 15:55-58 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Let us not be moved by our own brokenness or pour in spirit for that is of the Law, which is the sermon on the Mount. Let us rejoice and glory in Christ and again I say rejoice.

2Cr 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Our brokenness does not come from our own hand but from the hand of God and Glory in my infirmities and in my weakness that I should not have any glory in myself but all glory to God in Christ Jesus, for when I am weak then I am strong.

2Cr 11:30 If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.

May the Power of Christ come forth in us all that God may have the Glory by His Son in us.
Then Gal 2: 20 becomes perfect truth in us, Jesus Christ the power of Faith that is now our faith.

2Cr 12:1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

2Cr 12:5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.

2Cr 12:6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but [now] I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me [to be], or [that] he heareth of me.

2Cr 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

It seems those versus, Christinyou, talks about glorying in our own weakness, infirmities, wretchedness so that His glory may be ever more glorious in us. I don't think we need to walk around like Eyore, the donkey in Winnie the Pooh, saying Woe is me, but rather rejoicing that in spite of our utter worthlessness, Christ worth can be poured in us.
I often wonder, and pose a question even now, Can we ever be pure and holy, is it us that is being consecrated/sanctified in our daily walk? Or is it the life of Christ that is being worked in us?
I don't know if I am having semantic trouble with words but often think that we die, our first death, by the encounter of the Cross of Christ and then Christs glorified/resurrected life is imputed to us. And then I go even further with my thoughts thinking that even if we have a 40 or 80 year walk with the Lord our own selves are just as pityfully wretched and still needs to die daily and carry it's cross, carrying around in us the dying of the Lord Jesus so that His resurrected, victory-over-death life may abound in us!
Should we not repent daily and remain flung upon the cross of Christ even throughout a long life with Jesus? So our holiness remains solely Christ's and He imputes it to us moment by moment by the Glorious Spirit of God.
And that unravels me daily. That in our utter blackest of hearts, full of sin, Christ looked upon us and loved us and offered Himself. A spotless lamb shed His blood and gave His life for many, for all who would call on His name. And yet, he remembers our sin no more, and even goes above and beyond and clothes us with righteous robes. That is unraveling part, and the brokenness. I am unworthy, Oh Christ, but you say I am worthy, and offer to me forgiveness and righteousness.

If my people...will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways...then...

Oh mighty God, you want to undo us so you can perfect your work and perform your will, yet we desire to rather stay together and comfortable and in one piece...yet all who will diligently come may fall upon the stone and be undone.
