Genesis 1:3 (niv) - God said, Let there be light: and there was light.The Speaker is God. The time is before time was. The word is omnipotence. The result is the grandest of gifts. Darkness heard and vanish. "God said, Let there be light: and there was light."Light is pure. In it there neither is, nor can be, mixture or pollution. Its property repels defilement. It traveres unstained each medium of uncleanness. Snow is brilliant;- no whiteness can surpass it. But man's step mars it.- Water sparkles brightly from its spring. Man's hand can soil it. But none can make light's purity less pure. Such is Christ. When man on earth, He was pure as God in heaven. He passed through a world of sin, as a sunbeam through the vilest hovel. It is hard to miss the parallel between generation as described in the Old Testament and regeneration as described in the New. How, for instance, could the condition of a lost soul better be described than by the words "without form and void" with darkness "upon the face of the deep" (Genesis 1:2)? And how could the strong yearnings of God's heart over that lost soul be more perfectly expressed than by saying that "the Spirit of God brooded upon the face of the waters" (see 1:2)? And from what source could light come to that sin-shrouded soul had God not said "let there be light" (1:3)? At His word that light breaks and the lost man arises to drink of eternal life and follow the Light of the World....A.W. Tozer

2 Cor 4:6,7 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.Isaiah 60:1,2 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. The Light of life is Jesus Christ. He is the light given to every man who has come into the world. His priesthood does not give as the Levitical order gave. His priesthood enables every man who lives by his faith to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength." Deut. 6:5. The law given on Mount Sinai condemns. It makes nothing perfect. It only taught how sinful man is. The law of faith in the Light completes God's restoration of man who begins in darkness and is conveyed into the light.In ChristJeff

The law given on Mount Sinai condemns. It makes nothing perfect. It only taught how sinful man is. The law of faith in the Light completes God's restoration of man who begins in darkness and is conveyed into the light.Amen, the law was perfect, but man wasn't. Then Jesus came and he was perfect and he fulfilled the righteous requirements of the law so we don't have to. It's all in Him!

You are correct that Jesus fulfilled the righteous requirement of the law. What I may not agree with is, "so we don't have to." We in ourselves are condemned by the law. There is nothing in us that will save us from the righteous requirment of the law. So we must obey and follow Jesus. He will enable us unto salvation. As you said, It's all in Him. For those who follow, we will be led to the cross. And then we will live His life.In Christ Jeff
