Spiritual bondage is when you are a slave to sin, as opposed to being a slave to righteousness.
Study how the nation of Israel was enslaved to the egyptians, and how they were set free-- it's quite a picture and very relevant to us today. (See exodus)
Also Christ's words from Matthew 6,
"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." (mammon is wealth)
Also maybe look up the word "bondslave" in a strongs concordance and maybe a Bible dictionary. It should shed some interesting light on the subject.
I don't want to give a bad explanation, but in the Old Testament, you could make yourself a slave to someone under your own free will, and they would mark you with a permanent mark (on your ear, i believe...) that meant you are a slave to such and such master. In the new testament, Paul, and others, would call themselves BondSlaves to Jesus Christ.
Lastly, check out Romans chapter 6. And Galations chapter 5.

I suppose when I asked the question, I was interested in honing the definition down a bit further, with the hope of the finer detail.
For instance, is ALL bondage spiritual, or would that be an [i]overspiritualisation
How would one know if one is in [i]spiritual

To add some thoughts without really being able to answer your question :-
Jesus healed similar physical symptoms in a variety of manners. Jesus was obviously dealing with the root cause, and not using a "symptomatic" approach :-
1) Rub mud made of spit on his eyes, ordered deaf ears to open up. This appears to be physical bondage.
2) "Your sins have been forgiven...". This may be spiritual bondage, but is probably semi-voluntary, because seeking forgiveness of our sins (or not) is a choice. The person is still holding the "keys"
3) Cast out the deaf/dumb spirit. I think this is spiritual bondage where the person no longer holds the "keys".
Would you consider Paul's "thorn in the flesh" a form of spiritual bondage? Paul referred to it as Satan's messenger, however God permitted for it to be so.
Wigglesworth is quoted as having said (something like) "Never treat cancer as anything other than a spirit".

God hands us over to spiritual bondage, when repentance and forgiveness is lacking:-

As a slave could be born in bondage, it is probably likely that the child of a person in spiritual bondage, can be born in bondage also.
