Hey guys,
Can anybody help me here. i see there are lots of Bible scholars here. I am so impressed by the way some of you disect and present the word of God. I am still learning...Its a little hard to really understand what I read. Can anybody tell me how my bible studies can be very fruitful? how do I go about it.

I'm not one of the Bible scholars by any stretch of the imagination. Finney suggested reading the Bible straight through from Genesis through Revelations.
I've been following this suggestion over the last couple of years and have been encouraged to read through time after time. If you read the Bible an hour a day, you'll find you can read through 3 or 4 times in a year.
The Bible has opened up to me as I've simply let the Holy Spirit teach me. Am I content to simply do what the Holy Spirit said to do? It's been difficult at times to be content with the light that has been shared to me.
It's very important to walk out in what you understand from the word because it's quite easy to fixate simply upon an intellectual knowledge of the scriptures compared to walking them out in our daily lives. Just a word of warning to you from one who was a religionist in his early days.

Taking into account Ed's thoughts might suggest finding something that works for yourself ... Boy does that sound a bit awkward. What I mean is by prayer and reading, prayer without reading, prayer while reading. Personally found it more difficult to just adhere to a strict 'system' or straight through approach ... But, that very well may be the right course for you, it can be a great discipline. To be ridiculously simple ... just read. There have been times where I have read straight whole books and times where two lines have transfixed me in contemplation and wonder. Times when I recognize something that leads on to other thoughts, verses and before you know it your lost in a great trail of discovery. Times I have camped in places for weeks or longer and though I may go elsewhere, feel drawn right back ... The Psalms especially. There is a great 'whole' to the scriptures that hopefully becomes recognizable in the way it interprets itself. I have been in John for years on end and it's still ...
A great piece of advice picked up from Zac Poonen was to approach the scriptures everyday as if for the very first time. It is remarkable what is revealed.
