What's Up With Preterism?

Dear brothers and sisters,
There's a gentleman in my area promoting "Preterism" and I'm very disappointed regarding this...I believe it is truly a false teaching, and there's no doubt in my whole being concerning this. He's been pushing this (heresy as far as Im concerned) by way of local media, and I wish to confront him lovingly. I believe that he's deceived; however, what angers me is that this teaching also promotes a "live however you wish" philosophy since it also teaches there is no future judgement-check out his website at http://preterism.info/
I am desiring sound biblical counsel and opinions concerning this from SI members before pressing ahead in debate with this individual, the Lord willing. I truly don't feel I should be silent and turn away concerning this man spreading false doctrine. 2Thes 2:1-12 also speaks of this teaching warned by Paul.
Spirit-led counsel is truly appreciated amongest the saints. You're input would be appreciated.

It seems as though you are referring to what is sometimes called 'Full Preterism' as distinct from 'Partial Preterism'. Some time ago I got into a discussion about this subject, however it was [b]partial-preterisim[/b] that was being discussed and as Ron B pointed out, there is a difference. Looking back, I reacted pretty poorly. The points being made really made me angry as I was totally convinced they were wrong, or [b]could not be[/b] correct. Eventually, I think I had to conceede that at least some of the things they said were strongly convincing and better explained the texts; before this I could not even consider it becuase I was locked into a way of looking at the scriptures being discussed.

Once I was free to at least consider these things, I saw alot that I had been missing or even ignored.

I'm in no way suggesting that you embrace full-preterisim, no not at all, just sharing my experience. :-D

In regard to Eschatology, embracing [b]full[/b]-anything is potentially dangerous. Jacob Prasch, which describes the Hebraic meathod of interpretation of Eschatology, where there are "foreshadowings" of a final fulfilment.
