Videos for youth?

J
JerrodTune Jul 13, 2006

Hello,
None of y'all probably know me. Jeremy Hulsey is a close friend of mine, and I have also had the pleasure of meeting Greg Gordon on a couple of occasions.

I am preparing material for a youth camp that is coming up in about 3 weeks. I am looking for a video to show one night during the late night activity time, and I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions. I am trying to get away from using Christian comedians, since most of them are pretty fluffy when they finally get around to sharing the gospel. Any suggestions for videos that would work well with youth? No theme in particular, just anything good, thought provoking, interesting.

Thanks!

- Jerrod

How about the Revival Hymn video? No fluff there.

Have you seen "Life in a Box" by Gary Wilkerson? It may not be appropriate for younger teens... I think it has a PG13 rating. If you work with youth, you should own a copy of this video. Also, "The Cross and the Switchblade" is another good one to have in your DVD Library!! I highly recommend both.

I've posted the link to the World Challenge website.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies!!

Right after I wrote that post, I remembered the movie that came out about the five missionaries that were killed in south America (Jim Elliot, etc.) I got on ebay and bought a DVD of "End of the Spear". I will screen it and see how it is.

The Cross in the Switchblade I love, though my church association is incredibly conservative, and even with the nature of the movie, they wouldn't appreciate the few instances of profanity that pop up on a couple of occasions. But good idea though! Revival Hymn may be better suited to college students. But also a good consideration!
Thanks again, y'all.

Hi Jerrod,

I know you are asking for video, but I just listened to Paul Washer's sermon(the featured sermon) and WOW!! I was sitting here weeping. His audience was a youth group, but His message is for ALL who profess the name of Christ. It is powerful and what is NEEDED to be heard in the church in America.

for some video clips go to www.sermonspice.com

They arent full videos but many are good and provoking and you might be interrested in using them at some point even if not for your youth camp.

I would highly recommend that you download the Revival hymn video and play it for your youth group:

Just a small correction. The Life in a Box video is actually by Greg Wilkerson, Gary's younger brother.

And I don't believe we are selling it anymore in our online store.

Here's a sermon by Joshua Harris (author of I Kissed Dating Goodbye) based on 2 Timothy entitled "The Truth: Rediscovering Humble Orthodoxy" where he explains how to be humble while standing up for your convictions in a postmodern culture.

It's a big file, but well worth it!

Have you ever seen "Time Changer"? I love it...might be a little too adult...don't know, but it might be worth checking out.

this video is a really powerful testimony of a young man (about 4 minutes) I recommend you to show it to your youth. I know it's short but it will stir them and maybe after it you could preach something (whatever God puts in your heart):

(I'm sorry it's from youtube but it's the fastest way to show it)

If you want to the video, I can send it to you.

I like the Nooma Series. Quick 5-10 min videos to open up a topic for any age.

Maybe, Youth Specialties.

I can't find the other one. But there is another GREAT resource. I'll get back with you on that.
