? About all the troubles going on in the world today.

With all the troubles going on in the world today are we as Christians supposed not worry a lot about it all as in losing a lot of sleep or concerning ourselves so much about it all to were we burn out our nerves ? or are we to just use common sense like yes go to a bomb shelter when were told and just not spend every moment concerning ourselves about it all and know the GOD is in control, I think you all know what I am asking I may not just be wording my question correctly.Some personal thoughts and some scripture is kind of what I am looking for.

I think worry will try to take hold of us for sure...for the unbelieving mind and heart I think worry is a reasonable reaction to suffering and passing through the grave. Where is the hope of man?

But I think for the child of the Lord we are invited, instructed and even commanded to trust.

Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. John 14:1

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Psalm 91:1,2

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Psalm 23:4,5

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Hebrews 13:6

Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death. Isaiah 57:2

But we can also encourage each other, help each other when one faints or is losing hope. Those who are rich in blessings should look to share with those who are poor. This is especially true for spiritual blessings. Care for one another in this time! If you are having trouble entering into rest and trust, then look to strenthen and assure others who suffer from similar or even greater fears. The Lord is present in such love that seeks not to be comforted but to comfort!

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15

No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one's friends" (John 15:13).

"God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them" (1Jn.4:16)...

Let us abide in you Lord!

I espescially like the YLT, 'they have no stumbling block' almost like 'to them there is nothing to make them stumble', ha like in that movie the Matrix 'there is no spoon!', there is no stumbling block' :-P

The sentence 'He giveth His beloved sleep', made me look this up:

Psalms 127:2
[It is] vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, ~~[u]~~to eat the bread of sorrows[/u]: so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Bro, I don't want you to feel the following comment as a rebuke, please. I simply state a truth I have discovered the hard way, having deceived myself for many years as to the state of my inner man. By the time I began to pay attention to what I honestly knew of 'his' state, he was in serious ~~[u]~~dis[/u]repair.

Therefore I say, I think it's important that we ~~[i]~~don't[/i] deceive ourselves as to our own state of internal heart. It is safe(r) to bring God our fear(s) and ask Him to relieve it (them), by helping us understand what unhinges us, or disconnects us from ~~[i]~~His peace[/i], than to attempt to offer (however sincerely), comfort to others, that we may not (~~[i]~~really[/i]) believe ourselves.

Having said that, I do realise the exercise of faith can be all that is needed, as we prophesy truth - a timely word from God - to both our own and the other's soul, but for myself, ~~[i]~~understanding[/i] was very important too, or I found myself far too vulnerable to lose what God was trying to minister to my heart.

This verse which you quoted seriously challenges me: ~~[i]~~He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91[/i]

It seems to me that the operative verb here is 'dwells' and it's only as we ~~[b]~~~~[i]~~will[/i][/b] to 'dwell in the shelter of the Most High', that we ~~[u]~~will rest[/u] in His shadow, by default.

Am I dwelling in the shelter of the Most High? Do I ~~[i]~~seek out[/i] the shadow of His wings and ~~[i]~~intentionally[/i] ~~[u]~~rest[/u] ~~[i]~~there[/i]? I think I want to. I know I want to, but do I go for little ~~[i]~~sorties[/i] which put me in danger? Hmmm. Food for thought, and probably for prayer, too.

Good question... I'll be honest with you, in my life I have been in many different situations where my life was in danger. I was in combat in Gulf War I, and tho the combat was limited, one wrong move and it could have been lights out for me. That was nerve racking, especially since I didnt know the Lord back then and I knew I was headed for hell.

But with this whole situation in Israel right now, I have a feeling of uneasiness in my spirit. I wouldnt call it fear. I just have this gut feeling that this whole thing has a much deeper signifigance than what we see on the surface. I'm not saying this is the end... but you can certainly look at this whole thing and see how someone (the anti-Christ) could come on the scene this afternoon and bring about the prophecied (altho temporary) peace in the Middle East. In order for someone to bring peace there first has to be no peace.... and thats where we are.

And the entire world is effected by everything going on there.

I dont think we should worry or be fearful, but I do think we need to buckle our seatbelts... and look up because our "redemption draweth nigh".

If the Lord is in fact coming as soon as it seems He may be... these are not fearful times, but rather exciting time.

Who knows... this could be my last post on here. The next time y'all hear from me could be face to face in Glory! And once we're there we wont have anything to debate cuz everything will be revealed to us. Praise God, huh?

Mr. Bill, perhaps you have been watching too much tv?

When I was much younger, having children, I was deeply concerned about Communists. Krushchev had said they were going to take over the country (USA) by 1973 and I had small children! How was this young mother going to fare if that were to happen? In the meantime, people were building bomb shelters and storing up foods in the event of a nuclear war...After this came Watergate, right after Mr. Nixon won the election in a large landslide and soon he resigned when things got too bad for him. This was traumatic, as I recall. In the meantime, lots of other countries had war but it did not effect us here in the states except for a few men who may have been dispatched to the scene of war. Always, we wondered what was the outcome going to be? Is it the end? Always, we had to turn to the Word, what does it say? Wars and rumors of wars will characterize the end. So far our country has escaped the trauma of modern warfare - unless you consider 9/11. But how will/would we react if it should happen here? All they would have to do is knock out the hydro-electric dams on the Tennessee River and we all would be sunk badly! Life here would come to a screaching halt! How would we ever survive? The scenerio is enough to give one nightmares. Knowing all this, I know many in the world have experienced a whole lot worse and have died because of it. So it behooves me to stay close to the LORD and not worry...can't do a thing to change it anyways. I also suspect it would be for the betterment of folks if their creature comforts were challenged because we are spoiled rotten: if some [minor] things are not just so, people complain, complain. If people were in a survival mode it would either cause people to repent or make them angry at God. It will bring out the worst and and the best in folks - all depending on where their focus is. Since this just might happen, it will be in our best interest to look to the One who has all things in control and be ready to die if/when this should occur. And if we so unlucky to die, to know how to trust the LORD for survival!

Too bad this is such a pessimistic post, but I did share my own convictions on this issue. I understand your concern which is why I do not keep up with the latest news...

We should be losng sleep over this world. I speak to myself as much as anybody else. This generation is heading for hell so quick that we don't even realise it. We should losing endless hours of sleep, praying for this crooked and depraved generation, that we may be as shining lights unto the Lord our God! Pray, pray and pray for this world. Too many souls and pouring into hell. When you look at the wide path and gate leading to distruction, you don't see a few blokes ambling into it. You see football sized crowds of people literally pouring into it, as water pours into a jug. Only the jug is hell, filled with fire, gnashing of teeth and the Almighty wrath of God.

I ask myself this question: how much time in my day am I prepared to use and spend on my knees, in tears, praying and interceding for this hell-bound world that we live in. I ask myslef, and sadly as of yet, I do not use my time wisely enough. Put on your eternal specs and look at the world properly. It is not good.

We spend 8 hours of our day sleeping, 8 hours working, and what do we do with the other 8 hours? Watching TV? Bad films? Pornography? Swearing? Rude jokes? Blasphemy? Laughing at the very things which God hates? Turning a blind eye to the rape? The murder? The hatred of God? The abortion? The child abuse? The drugs? The molestation? The paedophilia? The homosexuality? You watch TV, and your family go to hell!

May I use my time more wisely for Your own sake oh Lord Jesus! Amen.
