Heroic Adam

I have wondered for years why Adam was so revered in Scripture. It seemed all he did was set the stage for sinful man. I mean, really, what did Adam do that would rate having the Saviour called the last Adam?

Well, I think God gave me the answer, and disagree if you like, but I think this is what he did.

Adam - Christ

Adam came directly from God. He was given Eve whom he loved.

Eve - The Church

Eve was blind to the deception of Satan. But Adam ate knowingly. Why? I think Adam did not eat out of desire to please himself, and therefore displease God. I think that Adam ate so that he could be with Eve. I think Adam knew Eve's fate, and was willing to taste death, willing to follow her into a land away from the presence of God, so that they could still be together.

Adam after the fall - Holy Spirit

Eve and Adam together create offspring, some of which turn out to good, and some to evil. Jealous Cain, the stony ground offspring, kills Abel, the genuine offspring. Just as today, the Holy Spirit works with the church to create offspring. Some good, some bad. Some so bad they want to kill the good, but both from the same source.

Adam hid himself, just as Moses and Christ were hidden.

Adam ate because the woman ate, though he could have stayed safe in the garden with God.

Eve's children would be brought forth in sorrow. This is the church bringing people to the Kingdom of God.

Adam had sorrow all the days of his life. Jesus was a man of sorrows, aquainted with grief.

Eve was the mother of all living. People aren't brought into spiritual birth unless we, the church, go get them.

Adam came from dust, and was returned to dust. Jesus was born in the dust of a stable, and ended up in the dust of a tomb.

Adam was sent forth from the garden to till the earth. Jesus tasted death, and the was sent forth from heaven, as the Holy Spirit, to earth.

Who brought first Adam to the earth?
Who brought second Adam to the earth?
Who brought the Holy Spirit to the earth?
Who brought Christ into the believer?
Who brings people into spiritual birth?

It is not the Church, but God who does all this that is in His Plan before the foundation of the world.

How are we birthed? 1 Peter 1:18-23 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

God has sent His Son into the believer by the conviction of the Holy Spirit that God might send His Children to The Church by the Body of Christ that they might grow therein.

Very interesting, brother. I can see where you're coming from. There are many spiritual correlations between Adam and Chist, as with Isaac and Christ. Some of the things you mentioned I've never thought of before, or have noticed in scripture (the dust to dust one was nice).

I have been out of town for a couple weeks, sorry for the slow reply.

I agree that the Lamb of God was slain before the foundation of the world, that we were predestined as Ephesians 1 says, that God can redeem a man without the help of anyone.

However, God has always, I say always used man to do His work. Jesus became a man to do the will of the Father.The Holy Spirit is God's executor, and no one repents unless the Father draws him, but looking through Scipture, God puts the Holy Spirit, into men.

Paul was struck by the blinding light with no preacher in sight, but he had had his heart stabbed by the testimony of Stephen. God the Holy Ghost filled Stephen, and God convicted Paul by use of His servant Stephen, thus the verse telling Paul it is hard for him to kick against the pricks, the stabbing of Paul's heart by the Holy Ghost, through the words of Stephen.

God has always sought men to do His work. Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, etc.

I was not trying to imply that a man can go out and save people through the works of his flesh, but rather emphasizing the commission given to the Spirit-born man to continue from the place where the Spirit claims him, and go out and claim others for the kingdom, and how this is painted even in the story of the garden.

Adam went after Eve for redemptive purposes, just as Christ has come after us for redemptive purposes, and now we go after the lost for redemptive purposes.

It is true that during revival God the Holy Ghost will fall upon an unregenerate man with no preacher in sight, but only after the people of God have wrestled with Him that He would do so. God alone is able to save to the uttermost, but He has ordained us to continue the work that He culminated on the cross. Christ in you, the hope of glory.

What is the Holy Spirit's mission in the regenerated man concerning the lost friend he has? To seek and save that which was lost.

This had occured to me once. Note that he curse came through Adam as the head of the race. This means the possiblilities go like this:

Adam refuses the fruit, thereby requiring Eve's blood be shed. Adam dwells alone, forever without a "help meet for him".

Adam refuses fruit and takes Eve's punishment, leaving Eve alone, who can potential bare Christ, through immaculate conception, though there is no possibility that "many sons" can be brought to glory, without incest occuring between Christ and Eve (an unthinkable thing).

Adam takes the fruit, thereby activaing the original plan of the "Lamb that was slain before the foundaion of the world" and the unfolding drama that proves that "friendship with the world is enmity with God".
