Jewels and Gold Dust?

I have been hearing about meetings happening where gold dust falls on the speaker without explanation. At these same meetings people are finding jewels that just appear out of nowhere.

Personally, I get a check in my spirit about these types of things.

People are so desperate to see something, to prove that God is among them. That I think they will settle for the counterfeit. Nobody wants to test anything anymore!

I actually heard a pastor say "Don't be so religious".

I am concerned that people will be deceived by this type of showmanship.

I encourage you to reread 2 Peter chapter 2.

Read 2 Peter 2 as suggested. Easy to see what is prophesied happening in this day and age. Christians are so into sensationalism that every deception that comes they readily accept without questioning it by the word of God.

I can't find anything in scripture to support gold dust falling or finding jewels.

Gold huh? Like in 1 Peter 1v7 which says the genuiness of your faith is much more precious than the GOLD that PERISHES!

As for jewels, Proverbs 31v10 says who can find a virtuous wife, for her worth is far above rubies.

That's the kind of gold and jewels that God is looking for. God bless.

I have read reports that the speakers who have this phenomenon were proven to be fakes. I can't remember the woman's name though.

If this would not be so serious, I would laugh! Maybe I will just a little! lol What people will not fall for next!!! I will not write what I really think...on the other hand it is tragic people are taken in by such showmanship. Can you imagine Jesus, John, Peter, Paul being partakers of anything like this?

I can! Peter is standing there saying "Silver and Gold have I none but..." then pausing with a surprised look upwards as the gold dust starts to sprinkle he says ..."Scratch that. How much do you need partner?" :-D

Beyond the spiritual, a trip to the jeweler would be in order.

Nope.. friends of mine saw it happening 2 weeks ago. The gold dust thing is still happening..

The church needs sackcloth and ashes sprinkled down rather than gold and jewels. May God pity us. Oh, the church is so sick, so ill, so dead and apostate. And so deceived. May God revive us!

I like what Zac Poonen said in a sermon that we need to put "gold" under our feet, do be content to bring it half way down to your hands or neck but push it all the way down, just like in heaven gold will be under our feet.

But what if it is God?

I remember when the gold teeth and gold dust hit the news about 8 years ago. At the time I was on a forum that focused on strengthening our ability to discern God’s voice. Suddenly my e-box was flooded with hundreds of glowing testimonies about gold – that’s right – people’s teeth were even glowing!

All skeptical messages were blocked. I submitted an article called “Real Gold or Fool's Gold” gently suggesting a need for discernment, as Satan could make gold too. After all, he made frogs in Egypt – a much harder accomplishment. Well, though I never actually accused anyone, the message was threatening enough, and needless to say, I didn’t last there long.

But what if it is God?

They say, “the proof is in the pudding” After that the forum deteriorated rapidly. No wonder. All the good teaching that the forum was built on about hearing the voice of God, was suddenly disregarded when the gold fell from the sky.

Eventually you can tell if it's from God - assuming that you have been learning God's ways.

All I know is that about 15 people at our church prayed to God in the name of Jesus and received gold teeth. These are people who are still serving God today, so if it is counterfeit, real Believers have received it.

I guess what I don't understand is this. If someone is earnestly seeking God, will He not answer? How can satan answer someone who is calling on God? Everything I hear is that can't be from God, it must be false. Well I've experienced some things that most would probably call false signs, but I know that I and the group of people with me were earnestly seeking God and we KNOW it was God who answered us.

Not that I am saying that everything is from God, but I don't believe every sign or wonder is a counterfeit either. ;-)

I think an earnest question that we should want to answer in evaluating the things which we see or hear could be asked this way: Is God being glorified and do these things reflect positively upon His integrity and holiness of Being; do they add to His glory or would they subtract from it, were we to ascribe them unto Him?

We should not pass over that last part too swiftly and would do well I think to consider just how stupendously and overwhelmingly grand and [b]weighty[/b] a matter it is - God's glory.

Consider then these words from the Lord Jesus

But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

and..

I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

and why then He responded the way He did to this challenge, for instance

If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Certainly there was nothing wrong with performing a creative miracle as in John 2:3-10.

Before I continue allow me to digress a moment.

I have heard that some persons who are professed atheists have challenged the existence of God by attempting to provoke Him to strike them down on the spot. They appearantly feel that since He does not respond, He must not be able to.

How foolish this is. Do mighty kings send for their armies to dispatch every lunatic and madman that would challenge their throne? Does a strong-man need to fight every would-be contender no matter how pathetic their challenges would be?

Now consider this then from the vantage of Heaven. How absurd! Does God need to chase after madmen if earthly kings would not? How would that make Him look? As the scripture says

Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! [u]Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth[/u]. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

Besides this we know that God has appointed a day of Judgement.

But I mention all of that to ask this: [i]how do these [b]miracles[/b] make God look, if we were to ascribe them to Him[/i]?

How would it appear for instance if our Lord had said

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

and then performed some of the works which have previously been described?

Remember a somewhat similar instance where, after feeding the multitudes, they sought Him and He said to them

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

and how did they respond?

They said therefore unto him, What [b]sign[/b] shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

Had they not missed the sign? And so He tells them

But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

I am the [b]living bread[/b] which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Brothers and sisters, I would not say for certain that God would not perform some of these works which have before been discribed(there are other things such as the circumstances involved which should be considered too). But if these things were from God, would it be a good thing?

Beloved, remember these very sobering words from the Apostle Paul

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I qoute this only to caution us beloved and not to condemn or alarm any of you nor do I mean it towards any of you. I would only caution us to soberly evaluate these things in the light of the holiness and glory of God.

Even if God did perform the miracle, there is still the issue of our reaction to it. Even God's gifts to us can become idols to us.

But, as SermonIndex suggested - it would be good to have a look. One lady in my church told me she got a gold filling, and when I looked, I couldn't tell that it was gold - although, it may have been the lighting.

Several years ago I heard about this happening in the church, and was quite taken by it. I would tell people about the reports that I had seen on various christian programs. A woman named Mary Glassier was promoting it on a Canadian ministry program, where the host claimed to have received gold fillings overnight. On the news a few days later his brother the dentist stated that he had done the fillings himself some time before, and that Willard must have forgotten. This incident has caused me to be very suspicious of any and all "miracles" that people claim to be happening.. I do not believe that God would give a person a gold filling when he could give him a whole NEW tooth.

Try taking this "gold sprinkling" thing to the poor, persecuted Christians in Sudan and India and Ethiopia. Tell them, 'Why are you guys so poor? God is showering down gold in America! He's even filling our mouths with it!' See the faces of the dear brothers and sisters who have lost everything for the sake of the gospel as you tell them this. You'll soon be shamed, I guarantee it.
