The Greatest Lie

C
Combat_Chuck Aug 23, 2006

"THE GREATEST LIE EVER INTRODUCED INTO HUMAN THINKING IS THAT THE DIVINE GRACE GIVEN THROUGH JESUS CHRIST IS TO BE AN ALTERNATIVE TO OUR CHANGE INTO RIGHTEOUS BEHAVIOR. THIS ENORMOUS LIE HAS LEFT THE CHRISTIAN CHURCHES IN DISARRAY. CONSEQUENTLY OUR GOVERNMENT AND ITS CITIZENS HAVE LOST THEIR MORAL COMPASS, AND THE RESULT WILL BE FIERCE JUDGMENT NOW AND IN THE FUTURE. AMERICA WILL BECOME THE TAIL INSTEAD OF THE HEAD.
THE PURPOSE FOR THE GIVING OF GRACE TO THE BELIEVER IS THAT HE MIGHT BE FORGIVEN, AND THEN GRADUALLY, THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT, CHANGE FROM UNRIGHTEOUS TO RIGHTEOUS BEHAVIOR. WITHOUT SUCH CHANGE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD." - Bob Thompson

I've been listening to an old guy named Bob Thompson lately. He speaks a whole lot about things such as the Kingdom of God, which really is a missing emphasis today, due to the pop-pre-trib-rapture-theory.

Listen to this sermon:
The Law and Righteousness The date of this sermon was 04-17-05. Wor.org (Word Of Righteousness) is his website.

I tear'd up at the end of this mp3. The way that church prayed, with passion, this was a living fellowship of believers I listened to, and it revealed the superficiality in my own church.

What do you guys think? Especially greg gordon and ccrrsch I want to know what you guys think.

Adam :-)

Hi Combat,

I listened until I began to hear his repeats.

He sounds somewhat Pentecostal, which I am, and being one who has tried all he preached, know that in the end his exhortation [which I have heard most of my life] is weak because it does not go to the root of the problem of the one who professes Christ yet doesn't realize Him in his Christian life. Dr. Bob's solution is no other than: "Try harder". And if one overcomes, then Christ did it. The problem with that is, how would one know? Atheist' can overcome personal problems and difficulties. "Positive Thinking" is kin to that way. In other words, one doesn't need Christ in the equation. Can you see my point?

I would imagine his church is not very large. I hope I am wrong about that.

Respectfully,

Orm

hi. :-) That's not what he's saying at all?? Bob was just trying to make the point that we will not be set free from sin until we really want to be. Ravenhill uses the same logic, does he not? "The reason we do not have revival is because we are content to live without it."

And what does church size have to do with anything? The largest "church" in America is Joel Osteen's, and we don't even want to go there.

On the other hand, "Bob's church" is healthy and is growing from what i've heard.

what did you think of his prophecy that he brought before the church and said to let the hearers judge whether or not it was from God?

And did you hear the people praying at the end of the file?

I wanna visit this church.

I heard him and I got the message from God to my life out of it! That’s all I need- our problem is we dissect what we hear in our minds but if you come to God really humbly to hear from him you will be like king David who told other’s to leave the man who insulted him alone considering that God may have sent him. He even expect to listen to God through insult! This man Bob, has a great message not only for America but for the whole system of ruined Christianity we follow in this modern day. The whole essence of the message is that we get void of take-it-easy Christianity. It’s not at all positive thinking that he preached. He said that God would not give himself away for half hearted people we need our whole being submerged in the business of Christ-unless we do so, we get none of Him! To my understanding that’s what implies by his message.

Your sis. Mek.

I heard all that from him. I still don't believe he hit upon the lasting solution; the one that will sustain the regeneration process within us. Self-effort won't do it and will only lead to more revival pep rallies.

I couldn't agree more, but dollars to donuts people in in his church are wearing out their rededicators.

The part I have difficuty with is that eastern country would replace the USA as the leader. I see the EU doing that under the leadership of the coming world government headed up by the man of solutions for peace.

Ouch... :-(

I suppose you could be right... I don't know though. I think Bob's a genuine guy who knows the Lord.

Did anybody else listen to this message? what did you think?

Hi Combat_Chuck,

I haven't listened to the message, but on the face of your quote, it helps me to make sense of the theology of someone I met on another forum, who always spoke about 'grace only'.

I never could understand why they didn't seem to believe in victory over sin (and there are a few who read here, who don't, either), but it didn't occur to me to discuss the meaning of

Romans 6

1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

or

Galatians 2:21
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

'The just shall live by faith' (Gal 3:11, Rom 1:17).

I wanna visit this church.

Pray about it. Go where the Lord leads you. Consider your brother's and sister's, but do not let them keep you from the Lord's direction.

In love,
Blake
