As I have been inquiring into the ministry of I.H.O.P. it has seemed impressive. Does anyone know much about this 24/7 prayer ministry.Two strong prayer worship leaders are Jason Upton and Misty Edwards. I also have a friend attending the ministry school, she has been stirred. Is this a ministry of great spiritual power or is it at fault anywhere. You're comments would be helpful, thanks.
I personally visited the main House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri. It was quite interested to experience this movement, where there has been somewhat constant prayer/worship (not just prayer) for the last 6 years! There definetly are some doctrinal lacks but it is not a doctrinal teaching movement but a prayer and worship movement. I would not cast out the whole movement I believe there is much benefit in it.
One lack I have observed is the negation of the wrath and judgement of God and therefore His Holiness. Andrew Strom who lived a few blocks away from the house of prayer has spoken quite pointedly on this and the doctrinal lack. Also speaking against the over-emphasis teaching on the "song of solomon" as a picture of the Christian life.

I visited IHOP in 2000 and attended a Harp & Bowl conference. It was a life changing experience for me. It's disappointing to hear that Mr. Strom has found so much fault with it. I agree with Greg that we need a strong emphasis on the holiness of God; but by the same token, I believe there's been so much legalism in the church, that we've lost sight of the love of God and His desire for intimacy with us. I have found Mike Bickle's ministry in the Word to be very balanced and he doesn't compromise in any way when it comes to walking the straight and narrow.
IHOP is a PRAYER ministry and the fact that prayer and worship is lifted before the Throne 24/7/365 is in my book an awesome ministry!! And it's not just vain repetition...the pray-ers there (from all denominations) are taught to pray God's Word! (How can anyone find fault with that?) How many churches promote prayer in this way. Lives of countless scores of men and women from all over the world are being changed as they engage in this great prayer movement that God is raising up today, not only in Kansas City, but globally. It is prayer that shall usher in the great harvest and accomplish God's end time purposes on the earth. would to God that there could be an IHOP in every city of our nation...America would not be what it is today. Sadly, Christians are playing Church and pontificating their doctrines, while living in compromise. IHOP has never targeted anyone or any ministry to tear it down, but seeks only to glorify Christ and bring the body together through prayer.
