Travelling back in time has been a dream of men for many years. I guess a lot of money and man power has gone into trying to solve the mysteries of time travel. To say I have come up with a solution to how to go back in time seems a bit extreme but bear with me as I explain how it can be done...
We must start with an example of why people want to go back in time. Let's say I am driving along on a quiet road late in the night, I am coming home after a busy day at work. The speed limit is 30 and I'm keeping to it. My mind suggests that I put my foot down a bit, not a lot, so I can get home quicker. The road is quiet, there are no children about so it looks safe. I am alert and confident so I speed up to 35. Within a short distance, a car pulls out of a layby behind me and would you believe it, blue lights begin to flash. I get pulled over for speeding within five minutes from my house. I sit in th car waiting for the officer to come over to me and all I can think is 'if only I could go back, just a few minutes, I would keep at the speed limit and be out of this situation'.
I'd bet we all have thought something similar after making a bad decision in our lives, whether it's a harsh word that we would like to retrack or a time we've lashed out and regretted it immediately. Well let me tell you how you can do something about it.
First off, I want to clarify that I am not talking about accidents or mistakes. These happen to everyone and are often unavoidable even if we take the up most care. Neither am I talking about choices that we never know are right or wrong, like 'may be if I had gone to a different college my life would have been better'. I am firmly convinced the only decisions that can be corrected are the moral ones, the ones which have a difinitive right and wrong, which we understand before we make our choice. When we chose to do something which we know is wrong because we believe we can get away with it, or there will be no consequenses. These are the times when time travel comes into effect.
Now every projest has it's down side and difficulties. With the event of going back in time to correct a wrong moral decision comes the problem that when we arrive back before we made the bad choice we also lose the knowledge of the future consequence. to put it simply we have the same choice again and are likely to take the same direction because, as in the first time, we cannot see the outcome. So how do we get round this. We have made a wrong descision, we regret it, we go back in time to change it but we have lost the knowledge of the future so we are doomed to repeat it.
The answer is quite simple and it also covers what you are thinking now; 'but how do we actually go back in time?'
You must, in the first instance, make the right decision.
What is the right decistion? Well that's why it only works with moral choices. We all know what is the right decision, it's called the conscience. 'CON' meaning 'with', 'SCIENCE' meaning 'knowledge'. Our conscience tells us the difference between right and wrong. (curtesy of Adam, Eve and a piece of nice looking fruit about 6000 years ago!) If we know what is right then we should do what is right. no matter what the outcome because in the end we will know that we made the right decision and would not have to go back and try to change it. In other words, the only way to go back in time to change a bad decision is to make the correct choice when we have the ability, therfore negating the need for time travel and solving the problem men have had for years.
How do we get to know what is right and wrong on some subjects. Well for this we need to have the definitive rule book which clearly points us in the right direction. The Bible is the only holy book which not only tells us the past but shows us the future. It truly is a book outside of time. By following it's principles and advice we can be sure to live a 'righteous' life (one without mistakes). However if we look at the basic rules, known as 'God's ten commandments' if we are honest (rule No.9) we have broken at least one and most often almost all. Later on in the Bible, James tells us plainly that if we break just one law we are guilty of all of them. The Bible also clearly tell us that the consequence of breaking His law has only one future; an ETERNITY away from God: HELL.
So we are back to the problem how can we go back and change the times we have knowingly (or in ignorance) broken God's law? Well fortunately for us (actually fortune has nothing to do with it; God, who knows the end from the beginning planned for it) God is outside of time so He can, and did, solve the problem for us. His Son, Jesus, came into time and onto the earth, to deal with our bad choices (the things we've done wrong, the Bible call that SIN). He didn't make them not happen, He paid the price for them. so that although we deserve the suffering and death caused by sin, He was punished for us and crucified so that we might live. Because He, who had the same moral choices we have everyday, made all the right decisions, He was perfect. And because He shed His Blood, when He died on the cross in our place, He spanned all of time from Adam and Eve, to our own children and the future generations, He can offer us eternal life.
What is the right decision for us now? To accept what He has done for us: salvation, by turning away from and giving up our past sin: repenting, and putting our Trust in Jesus who died so that we could live with Him, by reading the Bible, praying to Jesus Christ and Obeying His Word, we can safely know our past is dealt with and our future is secure (not just here for a few more years but all eternity!)
Make the right choice TODAY, the pleasures of sin have terrible consequences, give up your life for Him and you will be SAVED from the Wrath of God who will punish all who have not given their burden of sin to Jesus.
