The essence of an outpouring is Christ. Jesus in John 16 said when the Holy Spirit comes He will testify of Me and glorify Me. When the Spirit was poured out in Acts 2 Peter preached Christ crucified and Christ resurrected and the Christ who was present in his very preaching. When Peter and John raised up the lame man at Gate Beautiful it was "faith in the name of Jesus" that they testified of. Phillip in Samaria preached Christ. Paul preached the unsearchable riches of Christ.
Revival is preparing the way for the coming of Jesus Christ. Acts 3:19 talks of times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord and Acts 3:21 talks of times of restoration being fulfilled at His return.
It's all about Jesus. It's about His holiness, His passion, His jealousy, His burden, His love revealed at Calvary, His resurrection life in His body.
Christ won't send angels out of heaven or rip open the skies and speak to the whole world Himself. He has a BODY - His beloved church. We are His means to speaking, praying, and preaching His glories to the world. What a privilege!
May we become that body on the earth! May we become that body in this Western world. May America one more time see the living Jesus in a people. Oh God do it again in and through us!
