X3 Church

sermonindex Sep 4, 2006

I just got done listening to the most recently posted interview with Paul Washer and hearing his amazing analysis of modern american christianity. Immediately after I checked my e-mail and found a newsletter from XXXchurch - an organization apparently devoted to fighting against pornography. I have no idea how I made it on this list, but reading their newsletter almost made me sick. I have never read a more blatant attempt to fuse a Christian cause with worldly appeal. "Jesus loves Porn-Stars T-Shirts?" I am sure Paul (the apostle, or the southern Baptist :-) ) would have worn one of those..... Below is the newsletter:

I personally find this ministry which you can't even properly call it that pretty sick. Perhaps someone should email them a link to the paul washer sermon. It is sad that we are trying to be like the world to win the world but the truth is the world will win you! and it is when are doing this.

I agree with you, however i have one point to make.

Yes the sin that they are in makes us sick, but arent we told to hate the sin and love the sinner, i personally agree with them that Jesus loves them as human individuals, but he also has no fellowship with them while they are still active.

I have had a real good look at the web site and most of the stuff they do is to help people who suffer from porn adiction, they even state in their beleifs that people need to turn from porn and live a life of integrity.

As someone who sells christian t-shirts myself i would have to say that yes these t-shirts are inapropriate. However, i think they are trying to get the point over that Jesus does love (even porn stars) but in the sense of those who are trying to overcome their adiction.

I think that we have to remember that we are all trying to overcome sin, no matter the size.

Yet while we are in our sin Christ died for us and we have to remember that when it comes to others who are not as far on as some.

i hope this opens a good topic.

yours in Christ

Greg,

I'm a little concerned at your continual censorship of these issues, which are dealt with in horrifying detail in scripture.

I believe another reason the church and Christians are weak, is because they don't understand the idolatrous roots of such behaviour, and they aren't being challenged to turn away from idolatry, frankly, specifically and candidly enough.

Strongly I believe that the modern church's shying away from reading the full Bible in church, including chapters like Leviticus 18 on Sunday mornings, because such verses are considered 'not nice', or not suitable, is an attribute of the carnal mind.

It may be counter-intuitive to read Leviticus 18 on a Sunday morning to the adults and teens, but I can't think of a single reason why it should not be done. This would pave the way for some proper Godly exhortation to turn away from such things.

When you closed the last thread which hmmhmm posted, on sex, I planned to write an open letter to you and post it in the Lounge, but, my pc went offline and I've been limited for time on the internet. However, everything which I wanted to say came rushing back to me, when I saw the EDIT in the leading post.

I just think we are missing an adult opportunity to grow healthily in God.

Children these days are being given sex education from the age of 10, some of it horrifically specific about everything you don't want discussed in open forum. Parents should be responsible even for what they read on SI, but, in the absence of parental supervision, where ARE they going to find the Christian perspective on the net, if not on SI? Where do you want them to go instead?

Btw, if you think you are protecting the adults here, from temptation, then again, I contend they need to go through the mill with God and take responsibility for their own salvation. You can't do it for them. There's a boundary there.

Read through the posts concerning this thread and there are some solutions.

Have heard and read about this 'ministry' and they don't present the gospel of Jesus Christ, they give another gospel, using the Lord's name.

Avoid them. They are about as helpful toward pornography as the yellow arches are to a glutton.

As far as 'God loves the sinner and hates the sin goes, Psalm 5v5 says ... You hate all the workers of iniquity. Also in Psalm 11 v 5-6 it says 'The Lord tests the righteous, but the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates. Upon the wicked He will rain coals, fire and brimstone and a burning wind shall be the portion of their cup.

That cliche is just another one the church made up to make the sinner not feel so bad about their sin.

If anyone disagrees with Greg editing posts, then start your own website. He started this website, so what he says goes. If you don't like it, take the iniative.

For those who like and support a pornographic website that takes God's name in vain and breaks the 4th commandment, all I can say is God help you.

Hope these solutions help. God bless.

For your obedience is come abroad unto all [men]. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. Romans 16:19

Don't know about 'continual' nor censorship, some things just do not need to be posted here, to use your own words;

There's a boundary there.

Hey Enid, thanks for those verses. I needed those to counter that cliche. I used to say "God loves the sinner but hates the sin" until I realized it contradicts the Bible.

Open Air Preaching event:

Homosexual: ...yea but thank God we have a loving, merciful God who loves the sinner but hates the sin.
Evangelist: Where did you hear that? That's not biblical. That's just something Christians say so they won't offend homosexuals.

Thought that was pretty funny.

Back to X3 church. I went on that website at work and when somebody walked into my office I closed the window quickly. I felt uncomfortable and kind of nervous for some reason. Maybe because they might just glance at the big letters XXX or #1 Christian Porn Site and walk away confused or something. I don't know. Can't explain it but I side with Greg for deleting it.

I believe their X3 hearts are in the right place but we all know the heart is wicked and decietful and will stab you in your own back. Pornography is a HUGGGGGEEE problem in the church but I know these guys can go about it another way.

A while back Kirk Franklin was on Oprah Show. Topic: HUSBANDS SECRETLEY ADDICTED TO PORNAGRAPHY. He shared with the world that he used to praise Jesus on stage at his sold-out concerts and then indulge in porn after. This went on for years. Mr. Franklin went on to say he's free now BUT, Opray hit him hard for not blaming her for thinking the church is full of hypocrites. Then a sex-expert came on to address the men and said prayer is not enough and pointed to Kirk as proof. I felt bad for the guy for how he got used.

My point is that he probably came on there with good intentions but the enemy beat him around like a rag doll for that one hour. It was a set-up. Just like I think what's happening with X3 site. We must pray for these men in the limelight.

I know what you mean here, but let us remember that the church -- the true church -- is pure and beautiful; Christ keeps her that way. I go to church with Paul Washer and the #1 thing that comes up in most of his sermons is, "I'm so sick of hearing, 'There's just as much divorce/abortion/etc. in the church as in the world!'" No, there isn't. Anyone who practices sin (ongoing, with no true repentance) simply isn't part of the true church:

"No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God."
I John 3:9

Also, thank you, Moderator for NOT printing the stuff from that newsletter; we can get the drift without internalizing all the ugly details.

Greg, thank you for your wisdom. You foiled the enemy's plans. This thread would have taken off and spiraled into the realms of lasciviousness, like the previous one did.

You can't touch fire without getting burned. Oh, that God would give us all likeminded wisdom to avoid the occasion. Cut it off at the root before the first bud even appears!

Your absolutely right! Let me clarify.

Pornography is a HUGGGGGEEE problem amongst many people who attend worship services and sit under the teachings of Christ...for years and years.

Praise The Lord... :-D
God continually bless you with heavenly wisdom Sir...Please continue to keep this site pure as much as possible. Some might not like the fact that you deleted the newsletter content; however, you stated your reason for doing so, and I respect that reson and thought it was wise. I am far from perfect, but God continues to grant me grace to hate sin and wickedness that spring up out of my own heart. Please pray that the Lord will grant me the grace to be honest about all my sins that He points out to me, and the continual grace to turn from all of them, to continually walk in newness of life... Sin spreads like a vile poison infecting those in its path either directly or indirectly, but the battle is the Lord's and His saints are His soldiers. May the Lord continually bless you with Godly discernment.
"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret"(Eph 5:11-12, kjv)
May the salt not lose its saltiness!!!
The Lord bless you and your household...

I knew the content of the newsletter was questionable when I posted it, and I fully respect Greg's decision to not want it included on this website.

Even without reading the newsletter, the same point is clear. The very fact that a so called ministry published something that has been found questionable for a Christian audience is repulsive. I posted in response to Paul Washer's exposition of the modern church. You can see this as a clear example, even without reading the discusting references in the newsletter.

There is some sympathy I have for dorcas' point as well. I respect the regulars on this site so much and put incredible value on the opinions and counsel I recieve here. I do have real questions concerning issues such as sex, contraceptives, etc., that I would love to hear commented on by Godly men and women here. Talking about these things can lead to repentance and holiness as well.

I do agree, however, with Greg's decision to close the last thread on sex, seeing how it became overly explicit. Regardless of what I think, I do have so much respect for you, Greg, and acknowledge the authority and that you have as a shepherd over this site. You do an amazing job. Keep it up.

Just as a note:

I have tried their accountability software and found that under certian ISP's it had major problems. If you are struggling with this sort of problem then I really recomend a good content filter. I have a free one on my computer and my wife has the password!

btw, that comment made about the OA Preacher who said that 'God hates the sin but loves the sinner' is something made up by Christians so that they don't offend homosexuals was said by Ray Comfort. You should have seen the hecklers face when he said it!

Fair comment.

And it is true that God made sure there is enough in the Bible, for anyone who really wants His answers, to find and appropriate them.

By the way, what does this mean?

-K DAY

JennRich writes:
Meaning, the TRUE church, not "professing Christians". . . because God disciplines His own when they're in rebellion. When they stray off the narrow path, they are too grieved (in their spirit) to continue on it for a lengthy period of time. Judas Iscariot can be said to have been a hypocrite, but he never really belonged to Jesus in the first place. Jesus rebuked his own -- such as Peter -- but never Judas. "The Lord disciplines those he loves."

I'd be interested to see how you support what I've extracted from your post, with scripture.

Hi Jenn,

So, apart from Peter, where in scripture do you see Jesus 'disciplin'ing the other disciples?
