This is not something that I would share with just anyone, but I know that we have all denominations and beliefs displayed on this web sight and I think it is a great source for answers to difficult questions.

This kind of thing has never happened to me before so it's been on my mind and would like to know if anyone here has any advice or has a story of something like this.

Well, herre goes.

Don't laugh at me :-P

I preached last wednesday night to a larger than usual crowd at my home church. I had been fasting and praying more than ever before. I had been praying that God would use me in a mighty way in these last days. I told him that I wanted to be known by name by the demons of hell. I preached a message entitled "Who is on the Lords side?" from Exodus chapter 32. I preached for at least an hour straight and the Spirit flowed through me like never before. The alters were full at the end of the sermon. I had this feeling after I preached that I caught the eye of satan and he was mad at me. When I got home that night I thanked the Lord for a victory in the pulpit and went to bed. That night i had a dream that a black bearcame out of the woods and was charging me. The people that I was with scattered in all directions. The bear came right for me and overcame me and I could literally feel the beast bite my throat and crush.

Then I woke up. My throat felt like it had been crushed. I still feel like I've had some trauma to my throat. The next thing that happened was just as weird. My wife rolled over (still asleep mind you) and spoke these words "TRUST ME". What do you make of this?

Should I make anything of it or take this as a sign that I have indeed caught the eye of satan but trust in the almighty and KNOW who's in control.

Or should I admit myself to a mental institution and sign on the dotted line-NEED HELP QUICK!

J-bird

Any thoughts or concerns would be greatly appreciated.

Brother,

This is signifigant, when we are fasting and praying we are entering into spiritual warfare. The devil does not bother with lukewarm believers but those who are truly seeking the Lord and desiring to see the kingdom of God expand. I posted this which might be good for you to read through to encourage you:

Steps to Freedom in Christ

Perhaps you should get more members in your church praying fervently for God to move and work and also for protection for yourself.

These things are real! and need to be treated so.

Ephesians 6 - Watch, Pray and Stand - the battle is the Lords - against principalities, darkness, and spiritual wickedness in high places.

Be righteous
Speak and Seek the Truth
Trust God - don't be afraid of what Satan throws at you
Know the Word and be Strong in the Holy Spirit
Seek Peace - Preach and Minister Reconciliation
Know you are saved - even if you take a blow to the head

Dear God - protect and empbolden this holy brother - give Him your Wisdom and Power and Strength. Let perfect love cast out all fear as he abandons himself to whatever you have for him. Give him perfect peace in knowing that even if you were to slay him that he would trust you. Thank you that you are Sovereign and you are Good. Use him in your purposes. Keep hin in perfect peace as his mind is stayed on you. Finally help him focus on whatever is good, and pure, and beautiful, and lovely, and just, and right, and merciful, and true - to see it in his minds eye.

Blessed be Your Name forever.

Your brother in Christ,

Rob

Hi JBird. I have dreams all the time. I can even tell the difference between the ones which are from God and the ones that simply come up out of my own soul...and the ones which are demonically inspired. I have all 3 kinds. I oftentimes know the interpretation.

About 2 years ago, I began to have repeated demonic dreams. I sought the Lord about it. It was during a time in my life when I began to seek the Lord more than ever before. I talked with a pastor friend and he told me that this sort of thing happened to him when he seeks the Lord fervently. While it oftentimes leaves you feeling as though it really happened, let it stand as evidence that you are on the right path.

I'm reminded of Paul and how God sent a prophet to show him, "what great things he must suffer for my name's sake". I can't remember who said this, Greg will probably know, but the quote goes something like this:"There are only two safe places for a man who will preach the true Gospel, Heaven or the dust." Since you are still breathing, Brother, you better pick the dust! God bless you. Dian.

Thank you for your response. I know I will be coming up against all kinds of dark forces from the spiritual realm but I never expected this kind of thing to happen to me. Thanks for your encouragement it means alot.

Hi brother,

Without going into it all, recognize as much as what our sister expressed, quite similar here.

But to your question ... "What to make of this?"
Must say, found it very profound for one and secondly, you got the answer explicitly from your wife, make that through;

"TRUST ME"

The times I have heard that by way of impression on the mind ...

sermonindex Sep 5, 2006

Well, I guess the reason I'm so interested in this dream is because I was effected PHYSICALLY. I've had many dreams that were very unusual and even on a spiritual level, but I've never been effected physically by a dream.

This has made me open my eyes to alot of things that in the past I would just wright off and go on, but when it happens to you it all of a sudden becomes REAL. I'm not afraid of satan or his demons, but I do respect the fact that he is th "PRINCE of the powers of the air". My Lord has ALL power in heaven and in earth so satan is on a short chain and can't do anything without permission. If anything, it has INCREASED my faith. So, has anyone ever had anything like this physically happen to them.

It's so weird, because there is this pain in my throat that I'm almost constantly aware of. i would consider it a great honour to be marked by satan but is this something I should keep to myself or would it be safe to use this in a testimony or a sermon? I don't want satan to get ANY glory but this could help persuade people that what we are fighting against can and will manifest itself in the physical realm. Just kind of undecided on where to go with this, if anywhere at all.

My wife rolled over (still asleep mind you) and spoke these words "TRUST ME". What do you make of this?

Wow, talk about a confirmation, most of us have to wait for a confirmation, but the whole thing was rolled together into one night.

I never have dreams, so hearing you tell dreams like this is very enlightening and encouarging.

The throat irration that was left by the bear is a sure sign to you and those who hear you that the spiritual realm is very real and not be taken lightly.

The Sheep that scattered who were with you only shows how weak the Church has become that we are not even able to stand and withstand the enemy, even yourself were not able to withstand as you were attacked and was left wounded, but the LORD saved you by ending the dream and confirmed it with, "TRUST ME".

This dream is two fold, 1)Satan doesn't want you/or the Church to speak the truth, so he attacks your/our throat, which tells me the truth is not be spoken in the land, alot of preaching but no truth. 2)we are in bad shape and unable to withstand the enemy.

bro J-B
i had a vision once which involved a bear. i was walking with our Lord in a pasture where sheep were grazing, just talking to Him. there was a little hill in this pasture and then suddenly this bear came from the other side of it charging the sheep. i asked our Lord what to do (i had a staff with me) and He said something to the effect of go and attack it. With that i ran at it and came between the bear and the sheep and as it came upon me i struck it on the top of its head with the staff and it fell down dead at once.

it seems to me bears are somehow associated with the enemy (at least in these 2 instances, there is also the story of the she-bear coming to kill off the kids who made fun of elisha)but then there is also the account of the beasts in the revelation in which one had feet like a bear (revelation 13) and one that was like a bear with wings (daniel 7)

at any rate it seems our Lord is trying to get our attention so much that He invades (not in a bad way) our very dreams to get His point across. our Lord is calling you to a work and at the end of the day He Himself shall be all you need to see it done, as Paul found out when he was buffetted by satan, God's grace is sufficient. As long as we keep this in mind, we will lean on Him to furnish whatever is required for His work.

God bless you bro

That's interesting Ironman. I've often wondered there was any spiritual significance to these prophecys other than the kingdoms.

J-bird, I read this when you first posted this, and read it again now, and still have the same gut sense: this was an enemy attack. I trust you are fine now. It looks like your wife was given words that helped you drive away this thing.

I have occasionally had similar dream experiences – esp when first entering into enemy territory. Just casting it out seemed to get rid of it – as long as I saw it for what it was. I think fasting makes us more vulnerable to the spiritual realm – both good and bad. It’s warfare all right.

Yea this was my initial thoughts about the dream. The bible talks about satan gnashing on people with his teeth so this is what came to mind when it happened. I'm not shure but I think Job had a similiar experience. It's really changed the way I think about the spiritual realm. I asked my grandmother what she thought since she came from a pentacostal background and she did'nt really have an answer. Baptists are really shy about this kind of thing so not many I would ask for answers. I've always been kind of stand-offish about demonology and these type experiences but I think in the days we live in these kind of things will increase in the church, since we are in the last days, and demonic activity will surge because of the weakness of the church. The first rule of warfare is KNOW your enemy, so why not learn everything we can about who we are fighting and what he is capable of. I think it will better prepare us for battle.

I agree – and with that - also learn how we are vulnerable, and how God has equipped us to fight against evil forces.

I have come up with my own little diagnostic indicator: if after an experience I feel a lingering oppression of some sort, it is of demonic origin, and if I feel peace, it is of God. Even powerful Spirit conviction doesn’t produce hopeless condemnation – which really comes from demonic accusation.

Does that make sense?

I made a reply lastnight, and quoted Job. After going to bed I still kept thinking of your dream and I remembered that the bear went for your throat. Maybe so you can't preach the Word. I also read this from a commentary on the Song of Songs 1:10 your neck. The neck speaks symbolically of the will. The Bible speaks of people that are stiff-necked, which means a stubborn or rebellious person. The neck also speaks of godly submission, it is what turns the head as it chooses which way to go. You have a will to go before the Lord and see what He wants you to learn or just chalk it all up as a wierd experience. Knowing that the Lord is in it somehow, but its just to confusing.

The Lord also spoke to the disciples in parables and when they asked him for the meaning, He told them.
God Bless,

Dear brother J-bird,

I want to bring this qoute up from our sister Dian again becuase I think it is really important...

"There are only two safe places for a man who will preach the true Gospel, Heaven or the dust." Since you are still breathing, Brother, you better pick the dust!

I think of this too

...and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

and how as I understand it, this verse can be taken as saying that God is at war with the proud.

Brother, I don't at all mean to suggest you are proud, but only to encourage and strengthen your heart against any occasion for the adversary to hinder what the Lord would do.

Here is part of an entry of this passage above from Vincent's Word Studies

Be clothed with humility

The last word is a very peculiar one, occurring only here. It is derived from κόμβος, a roll, band, or girth: a knot or roll of cloth, made in tying or tucking up any part of the dress. The kindred word ἐγκόμβωμα, from which the verb is directly formed, means a slave's apron, under which the loose garments were girt up. Compare Horace's “puer alte cinctus,” a slave girt high. Hence the figure carries an exhortation to put on humility as a working virtue employed in ministry. This is apparent from the evident reminiscence of that scene in which Peter figured so prominently - the washing of the disciples' feet by the Lord, when he girded himself with a towel as a servant, and gave them the lesson of ministry both by word and act. Bengel paraphrases, “Put on and wrap yourselves about with humility, so that the covering of humility cannot possibly be stripped from you.”

Resisteth

A strong and graphic word. Lit., setteth himself in array against, as one draws out a host for battle. Pride calls out God's armies. No wonder, therefore, that it “goeth before destruction.”

Peace and grace be with all your hearts who are in Christ Jesus.

No offence taken brother. pride is something we all need to keep in check. It will sneak up on us in a heart beat if were not watching. Pride scares me. I've seen what it's done to so many potentially powerful saints of God who let it ensnare them and after it finally got the best of them there was a downward spiral that they were never able to recover from.

I completely agree.

As Diane (roadsign) feels, so do I, that you had a very specific spiritual attack. I have had spiritual attacks with physical consequences, (to answer your question) and there is another thread about something similar, which you'd be interested to read. I'll look for it after I've posted here.

I felt the points made by keepwatch were apposite, too, especially in the light of the later mention of pride (stiff-necked), although we believe we are circumcised in heart, and are bowed before the ever-living God in true living faith.

These verses came to me, (1 Sam 17) and I wondered if the bear is of a specific significance, as I've heard of personalities being represented like wolves, spiritually. So, what does the bear mean?

He is not the same kind of predator as a wolf or a lion. I've heard the political interpretation (which is valid), but, what of the personal, if indeed it is 'that' simple?

1 Samuel 17
34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:

35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

Amen. Be encouraged brother, but let it make you even more dependent on the Lord for your life.

Hi everyone,

Thought I would mention too that my wife has dreamed about a polar bear coming into the house before. I believe many of her dreams and some of my own have been in connection with sharing the Gospel; she prays, I sow the seed. We've had quite a few experiences of what we think were spiritual attacks.
