Ungodly Cartoons

I would like some input on this, and what better way to get some good information, that from you guys.

I had noticed a while back that some of the cartoons that are coming on tend to be unusually leaning toward the evil side. I remember that a series of different shows came on a particular network, and every one that came on in succession was about witches. I am sure this is a ripple of the Harry Potter success as of late, but there was something that got me thinking tonight.

One of the boys in my ministry brought the subject up to me tonight while I was driving him home. He was telling me how ungodly some of the shows are, and that some of them wanted to make him destroy his TV. Now you must understand that this boy is not outwardly out-and-out for God. In fact he has had lots of trouble with anger, and I personally don't see any evident fruit in his life. So for a child like him to tell me things like this made me really think about the subject.

He was telling me that the shows had vampires (these I have seen), had false prophesies, discussion of false gods, one show had Martin Luther King being raised from the dead, etc, etc.
I am not sure how accurate his words were, but the things he has seen must have been pretty heavy for him to comment like this, this I am judging from the things I have heard come out of his mouth before.

my opinion is that all this is to condition and prime the population to accept occultism, new agism as normal in society. If this is done at a level of children, a pattern is being laid for the future. Children are blank sheets of paper who have no idea about right or wrong it is all taught to them by the models they have around them. If the model that they see is of occultish behaviour then that is a paradigm that is set up for the future.

God has set eternity in our hearts and based on that maxim I believe it is a deliberate ploy to give children (later adults) a picture of fulling that emptiness 'without' there being any thought given to Jesus the Christ but to every other spiritual fraud that masquerades as angels of light.

I am very leery of what my children watch. I don't even like them watching things I have watched as a child.i.e. scooby doo, bugs bunny, etc. I think that satan is trying to get at our children as young as possible to turn them away from Truth before they get a chance to turn to it.

Some of the things that my son tells me he watches at his daycare, I don't let him watch at home and I have a hard time getting them to comply when all the rest of the kids are allowed to watch it. I even had one teacher tell me, well Nathan can go sit by himself if he isn't allowed to watch what everyone else is watching. The scary thing is that teacher is a Christian.

I don't let my children watch Nickelodeon at all, and Disney is out of the question except for two or three shows. PBS Kids sprout usually has something that is educational, but you have to watch that channel too. I usually just put in veggie tales for them when they watch tv.

I have made sure to talk to my son about witchcraft and other things on tv and that they don't glorify God, so we shouldn't watch them. I try my best to lead from example.

I also strictly limit what my children see -- and many times the commercials are far worse than the shows. But I have a slightly different opinion about what is "ungodly" . . . the things that I shudder at are not necessarily witches or the occult. . . I shudder at basically GOOD shows that have just a little bit of humanism in them. For instance, Blue's Clues is a sweet, educational show, but their so-called "Holiday Specials" group Christianity along with other religions of the world, as if they were all equal. Once they even described Christmas as "a time when people celebrate birth." (Not even "a special birth", and they certainly don't mention Jesus' name.) In my eyes that's more dangerous to the minds of children than the threat of witches or warlocks.

I'd ten times rather my children watch an old episode of "Bewitched" than say, "Friends" or "Dawson's Creek". . . . because they become accustomed to making light of breaking God's law. So many people I know love "Seinfeld." But it gets you to LAUGH about sinful things. Even if you say you'd never do those things, such as commit adultery -- what an insult to God to laugh at a joke involving it.

JennRich here -- To clarify: not that witchcraft doesn't fall in the "breaking God's law" category. . . . it's just not the most dangerous kind. Jesus said it was the lukewarm He was going to spew from His mouth, not the "cold." The REALLY dangerous sins are the ones that "mix well" with what America considers Christianity. For instance, little white lies, impure thoughts, etc. These are the subtle sins that begin in the heart, and gradually take over the mind and the whole person. It's the little foxes that spoil the vineyard.
