New Age - Ghostbusters, pray.

Brethren,

Me and a brother here at the bible college ran into a couple that are deep into new age and communing with spirits. We had them over and talked with them for 2 hours and shared the truth of the gospel with them.

there names are: Klaus and Rita.

Please pray for their salvation and also for their powers to be nullified. Also for protection on myself (Greg) and Nathan. It was abit of a spiritually tense experience but the Lord has had His purposes and I pray that they will come to repentance.

And also my prayer is that it is revealed how they are communing with wicked spirits and satan himself. God save them.

Hi Greg,

can you give us a low down on what angles you were using in trying to get the truth to these folk? Could you also give us an idea of their philosophy?

One one fellow had a bible college degree and had his true experience of "creator god" in south africa in a new age healing room. They believe that they are in the "light" (not born-again) and that their purpose is to lead others into the light including ghosts. They have certain "gifts" that they beleive they have been given. His wife since since was a youth felt close to the spirit of jesus and creator god and have been given certain gifts since she was a youth.

They disliked idols but they found viritue behind the budda idol. One statement Klaus said was that there will be many more people coming into the light then Christians would want to believe.

They have a ability to "scan" which is able to see aura's, and also discernment between, good spirits and bad spirits (angels), demons and ghosts (spirits of men). I frankly told them that there are just demons and that the spirit of men go to the dust to await resurrection. I warned them of this practice that God forbids it. I told them if they had the true Spirit of God, that it would testify of Jesus Christ and led them into all truth, and their paramount desire would be to share the gospel. Sadly none of those things were true of their profession.

They also believed in reincarnation, and Klaus stated that he "scanned" the other thief on the cross and that he also went into the light. If you are thinking this if fables it isn't they beleive these things with all their heart.

Do pray for them, I told them ~~[b]~~many[/b] scripture verses, giving them the simple gospel not with persuasive words but with demonstration of the spirit and power.

We did not see any manifest conviction, or uncomfortableness on their part and to tell you the truth I felt somewhat embaressed at one point over the seemingly lack of spiritual power being exhibited by me and Nathan in proclaiming the gospel. But God knows our hearts and in the flesh at times we can think that nothing spiritual is happened but on the contray strongholds are being torn down.

keep praying for these 2 people fervently brothers and sisters, I am praying that they will be unvieled to see their communioning with demons and will in fear run to our house for conversation, pray for: Klaus and Rita.

Greg,
Greater is He that is in you, than He that is in the World.
I agree with you that when we think we have failed God, in that we may not have felt His Spirit as we really wanted to.
The Bible says, Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
You gave them the Word.
The Holy Spirit will convict, if indeed they want to be convicted.
I believe we will see more of this as time gets closer to Christ's return.
I do ask God to save them.

The only way we can know what is going on in our Brother's and Sister's lives, is for them to share it with us.
I ask God to especially give you the Words to minister, through the Power of the Holy Spirit.

I'll pray for them, Greg. I agree with Nellie, this kind of experience is going to become even more prevalent in the future for people in the last times. BTW, these New Age manifestations can be incredibly deceptive and can equip people with powers that can blow the mind (see especially Tal Brooke's Avatar of Night). Hang in there!

I agree with the other posters that responded to your post.

New Agers are so very difficult to talk to, to reason with. They are so very set in their ways, and yes, it seems demonic.

There is a resource on the web that might help you, at least with the intellectual end and that is www.rzim.org. Click onto broadcast archives. There you can listen to Ravi Zacharias discuss philosophies and how to deal with them. He is into apologetics and is very interesting.

Will pray for Klaus and Rita.

Dear brother Greg, grace and peace to you in Jesus name and may you both be strengthened by the Holy Spirit for the work of the Gospel and to stand amidst the labors.

I'm glad you shared this story as it confirmed for me again how wide open things are on the other side, in the broad way. It's a good reminder that God forbade such things also.

I have had similar encounters with people too. One man stands out in my mind as he had claimed to have been a Christian at one point but seemed to be really drawn after buddhism because of some experiences he had had, visions and other such. I met him at least a couple times where we both happened to be visiting the library that day and shared scriptures and its warnings with him as I could. I pray that he was not finally drawn over to it.

It seems to me that exercises of spritual power that satisfy self-interests or answer to some personal curiosity and that do generally promote the ~~[b]~~influence and reach of man[/b] are manifest tokens of perdition. These seem to be in stark contrast to the operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which are to be exercised for the edification of the body of Christ and for the glory of God and Christ Jesus and the furtherance of the Gospel. Here it appears there is another way in which the children of darkness are manifest and the children of light.

Be encouraged brothers and press on in Jesus name.

I'm not sure if you realise that there is (should be) a little piece of paper with writing on, tucked inside a Bhudda, which is effectively a curse.... at least conducts some spiritual power if submitted to.

1 Cor 15:18

I quote the above because of this statement:

Brother Greg,

I will also pray for your spiritual strength and wisdom for this situation. These two people will also be high in my prayers. Its great that you guys were even able to share Christ. New-agers are so closed off.

Most of my family has left the faith and is into some kind of new-age mess. They seem unreachable. This type of belief, at least I believe, seems to open people up into bad demon oppression.
