Sticks and Stones

I'm trying to help myself and a friend with this post. It has been said that "Sticks and Stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me". How not true, I can heal from broken bones, but deep cuts and wounds with words may never heal but by the Grace of God. Please help me with scripture's that show words are "Spiritual". I know I'm onto something but I need some assistance from the Holy Ghost and His gracious Community.

Good morning Jake,

Please help me with scripture's that show words are "Spiritual".

Do a study of James 3. It deals with the tongue, and the evil it is able to muster. We know that the Word of God is Spirit and truth; words that come from the wicked one are also of the spirit realm, and have spiritual consequences. Read in particular verse six, which says the tongue is set on hell fire.

Also, consider Matthew 5:37: "But let your communication be Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil."

Pro 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue; And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

1Pe 3:10 For, He that would love life, And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips that they speak no guile:
Rather than cheat you from such a rewarding study, may I suggest that you start with reading all references to tongue OT and NT. Lip or Lips would be a good one too as would word(s) in the plural form simply as words. That'll keep ya busy fofr a few days and possibly reward you for a lifetime.

Hi Jakeslash,

Read Psalm 64. It can strengthen you and give you comfort.

Pro 18:8 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
