I emailed the Phelps, asking if they believed God could save homosexuals, since He has in the past, based on 1 Corinthians 6:11.

Here was the reply from Jon Phelps:

Hey, donkey:
Deuteronomy 29:29: "The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but
those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for
ever, that we may do all the words of this law."
Get up off us because you hate the revealed things of the LORD your God!
Three times it says in Romans 1 that God has given these beasts up.
John 6:65 says: "And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can
come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father."
Stop intruding upon the exclusive prerogative of God, to wit: "Salvation
belongeth unto the LORD." (Psalms 3:8).
As for the f*g beasts and their enablers (including Jesse Morrell) we
have this standard: Mt 3:8 "Bring forth therefore fruits meet for
repentance"!
Only an arrogant *ss would brag about being a Godless Arminian. Jude
1:4: "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of
old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our
God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord
Jesus Christ."

I wrote back: "God Bless you"

Pray for this family, because I believe they are doing MUCH HARM to the work of the gospel. Especially much harm to us open air preachers.

Phelps is often used at the blunt of jokes, and is often bashed by genuine Christians, but I pity and have compassion on him and his children.

I think we need to truly love them with Christs love and have compassion on them.

Their ministry truly is:

1. Motivated by hatred rather then love
2. Is a ministry of condemnation rather then life

I know people have accused me of these things, all of which claims I utterly detest and totally deny. Nothing grieves me more then to be called unloving.

But Phelps openly admits that he's not even trying to get people saved. Because he doesn't believe homosexuals even can be saved.

I think I might try to continue the emailing with his son. Pray for that. Pray that God uses it.

Wait, is this guy Jonathan Phelps somehow related to Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church out of Topeka, Kansas? Fred Phelps and his congregation were at my school with their God hates "homosexuals" signs protesting some play. Utterly disgusting and demonic. Every bit of it.

During 1993–94 interviews with the Topeka Capital-Journal, four of Phelps' children asserted that their father's religious beliefs were either nonexistent to begin with or have dwindled down to nearly nothing. They insist that Westboro actually serves to enable a paraphilia of Phelps, wherein he is literally addicted to hatred (this statement would serve as the inspiration for the title of the book about Phelps' life). Two of his sons, Mark and Nate, insist that the church is actually a carefully planned cult that allows Phelps to see himself as a demigod, wielding absolute control over the lives of his family and congregants, essentially turning them into slaves that he can use for the sole purpose of gratifying his every whim and acting as the structure for his delusion that he is the only righteous man on Earth.[12] In 1995, Mark Phelps wrote a letter to the people of Topeka to this effect; it was run in the Topeka Capital-Journal.[13] The children's claim is partially backed up by B.H. McAllister, the Baptist minister who ordained Phelps. Pray for Fred and his entire family, that they find the saving love of Jesus Christ.

Jesse,

You are wasting your time, this man and what he does is very unbiblical and in the wrong spirit. I would not even deem it worthy to mention his name anymore or discuss this. Really don't you have better things to do? Men like these are like the foam from the waves of the sea, trees without fruit.

Let us not be numbered among them.

Greg,

I only requested that we as Christians pray for him and especially for his children. That they find the love of Jesus Christ.

So often the Phelps are bashed and made the blunt of jokes. But we need to love them with Christ's love and have compassion on them and truly pity them. And pray that God saves them with His love, because they are truly decieved being used of the devil.

Jesse I hear your heart and I agree with you on this. What they are doing does hurt all christian testimony.
I hope you can reach them somehow. There are about 80? people in that cult situation. They are precious decieved souls who need to be saved out of it. Perhaps if fred phelps does not get saved befor ehe dies, when he dies maybe alot of the steam will fizzle out on this group.

Can we not pray for him and his family? That they might changed, or saved, or cleansed, or forgiven or whatever else they need?

We need to pray for people like this. We need to pray for a miracle in this man's life. We need to pray to the God of miracle's for a miracle.

Yes we can pray but I see clearly the scriptural weight against people such as these the apostle says not even to let in your door or eat with them. They are accursed, but may God's grace be shed upon them and grant them repentance, but definetly not condoning or even as one brother said discussing their teachings and words on the forums is very unprofitable. but yes do pray.
