Over the past 4 months I have been having on and off convo with an unbeliever who is into conspiracy theory stuff as well as questioning everything about christianity. Recently he loaned me his Ipod to watch a tv program he had downloaded; 30 DAYS. This one was about the athiest who lives with christian family for 30 days. It was both interesting and painful to watch.
The producers goal is usually to get people to see that we are all the same and we shouldn't say "our" way is the only way type approach.
There are several points I would like to bring up but I will only address one for now. It's the false idea that living in America means freedom "from" religion as opposed to freedom "of" religion.Big diffrence.
There is a scene in the episode where the athiest takes the christian couple to a local coffee shop to meet fellow athiest. Initially the athiest put forth the "we feel persecuted for our beliefs and just want to live in peace", approach. Well that would be nice but thats not reality either in real life nor as the convo progress's. The christian apologizes for other christians not loving their neighbor as they should. Then a little later the greater goal of the athiest is revealed in the convo. Remove "In God we trust" from the money and remove all crosses and any refrence to religion from public places.
It's really important to understand that "most" athiest mentality is shaped and heads towards remove everything from public life that reference religion. They have a misunderstanding/outright rebellion against God and his laws.
Another point to be made is that seperation of church and state does not mean seperation of God from governament and public life. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR CHRISTIANS TO UNDERSTAND.
For those who have not watched the 30 day episode you acn find it on the net and watch or download.
Also One of the best teaching on the God and government realtion is Judge Roy moores "Law of the Land" dvd. I initialy had my doudts about this but after watching this teaching it removed those doudts and gave me a clearer understanding of the relationship. You can probably get ahold of this dvd from his website or visionforums website.
Again I remind all that it's freedom "of" religion not freedom "from" religion. God bless, John
