Looking at doing some study next year, I'm a bible smuggler and have been so for just under a year now I want to know more about this book I move.

will help you immensily in your growth as a Christian and knoweldge of the bible. I am personally going to Calvary Chapel Bible College, it is a college for more of a younger age group but they go through the word verse by verse, and cover many topics modern day colleges would not touch on.
As Ron said to study with the author is very true statement. Take for instance John Sung from China who was locked up in a Asylum in America for 30 days where he read the bible I believe 12 different times and took commentary notes each time. He left that Asylum knowing the how to carry the cross of Christ and knowing the word of God.
Just get alone with God and read through the entire bible in a week. Spend more time in prayer. I really don't think that bible college is for everyone. I would much rather find a older man of God that would be willing to disciple me for a year or 2.

What a profound statement.
Take for instance John Sung from China who was locked up in a Asylum in America for 30 days where he read the bible I believe 12 different times and took commentary notes each time.
Something about the math of this doens't add up to me. In 30 days there are 720 hours. It is said you could read the entire Bible cover to cover in about 70 hours. Personally, I think that sounds a little quick. However, even if you were to read the Bible that quickly, you could only read it 10 times cover to cover. If you were to write comments each time around, I'm sure much less. Not to mention doing things like sleep, which might allow you to get through it about 5 times max.
Be careful. Such a statement sounds fantastic, but it sounds like a fantastic lie.
I beleive John Sung was "locked up" for 147 days. This was in response to him being baptized with the Holy Spirit while he was in Seminary. He leaped up and down the halls, so they put him away!
During this time he read through his Bible and extraordinary amount of times(I do not remember as I don't have my copy of his biography handy).I do believe it was close to 70 though, and each time he broke down the books and chapters differently. After his release he went back to China, and on the way threw his PHDs into the ocean.
He was a brilliant man even more so because he counted all the worldly things as loss to gain souls for his Master.
Golden State Baptist College. I am attending here, and it is quite possible one of the best Bible colleges in America, yea even the world. But of course studying at Jesus feet is the 1st prerequisite to attending any college. This college will def. equip you for the ministry. It is not perfect, but it is certainly one of the best. gsbc.edu is the website, but the website doesn't nearly reflect the hearts of the great men and women of God who attend, and staff here

My advice is to completely soak yourself in scripture, and covet nothing but the Book, the pure Word of God. From the Word you will learn to pray the will of God and soon lose yourself in the rapturous awe of the living Word.
Don't worry about Pilgrim's Progress or any of the great saints' bios or theological discourses (though these are all blessed books). Focus all your time, your thoughts, your desires, your faculties, your resources and passions soley on the Word of God. There is a great secret to be tasted when you discover the mysterious living power of scripture. Your whole spirit will ache and long to be alone with God, you will look forward to your quiet time with Jesus every morning as a lover yearns to be with his/her soulmate.
As you begin to daily arise early in the morn to soak yourself in scripture, you will find the Spirit of God visiting you during the day with surging and ebbing waves of tenderness and great delight. You will discover your once-besetting sins are now being rendered powerless, mortified, and strong temptations are not as sharp and cutting as before. Your inner man will flourish as you anchor yourself daily in the Word, taking time to be holy during your times of privacy in the presence of God. Ah, this is a great secret not too many know of! Herein is the secret to never backsliding and experiencing real joy and victory in Christ. It is simply soaking oneself in the Word of God daily. Ah, but it is not so simple!
Because you have discovered this secret, Satan will do all he can to keep you from the Book. He will allow you to read Spurgeon and Pilgrim's Progress and Ravenhill but he will fight tooth and nail to keep you from the Bible. You must constantly resist him, deny self, and endeavor to meet God daily in systematic and earnest scripture reading. The treasures and benefits you will find will far outweigh any temporal discomfort the enemy can hurl.
Brother, never neglect your daily quiet time with Jesus Christ. If you begin to slack in this, your inner man will languish and your flesh will soon rise. You will lose your joy in the Lord, your tenderness with Jesus, your precious tears, and open yourself up to all kinds of strife and unrest and bickering and gossiping and backbiting that so permeates modern Christianity.
But if you saturate yourself in scripture daily, and read through the Bible consistently from cover-to-cover over and over and over, asking God to sprinkle you with the blood of Jesus Christ to enter into His presence and meditate early in the morning on His sweet voice and tutelage, you will be astonished at how quickly you will grow in grace and wisdom and in the power of the Holy Spirit. The secret, dear brother, is discovering the living efficacy of the Word of God, from whence all things in your walk with God flow - faith, holiness, wisdom in prayer, renewed life in the Spirit, power for ministry. The Word is your spiritual bread! Learn to feast daily on this mysterious, living, and life-transforming manna. Let the word of God dwell in you richly!
