Many still say it is the old Babylon revived but that doesn't add up according the scriptures. Using Rev 18 as the study, what is being overlooked or concluded by taking this view.

You asked if I found something, perhaps the last verse of Chp 18? Well, I don't believe one could conclude anything with simply that verse. How about reviewing the whole chapter and make/draw some conclusions from the whole of it?

Are you saying that perhaps this "Mystery Babylon" is the false church? This is a likely possibility. But why couldn't Mystery Babylon be just that, Babylon it self. Suddam was trying to rebuild the old city and from what I've heard he did a lot on the job. Not 100% if that is true but the fact that the city is/was being rebuilt adds spice to the mix.

I have a DVD by Chuck Missler on the subject, and his view seems pretty accurate. He shows biblically that the destruction of Babylon has not occured, so that is a future event (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Revelation). There does seem to be a definate link to the Roman Catholic system. The prophesies seem to lean to the last world dictator being destroyed in Babylon by nuclear weapons:
Isa 13:13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
Jer 50:9b their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.
Rev 18:9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning

I don't want to immediately give my view on it but rather have the passage of scripture looked at and some definite things concluded that it states quite clearly. This will readily eliminate much wrong speculation. #1, We are talking about a "mystery Babylon" and not Babylon itself. Babylon itself is no mystery, we have the record. Babylon was destroyed and never again will it come into prominence as God declared. A reading of Jeremiah 51 will testify to that. However, the mystery Babylon will be like her and faces a similar judgment. Read particularly where God says that she was a "golden cup" in His hand.
I don't believe that in Rev. 18 we are reading about mystery Babylon being a religion except, in the purist sense of the word, she worships what she is.
There is much geographically the mystery Babylon is that the old Babylon can't be compared to. This should be the first thing we must establish, i.e., where is she?
Anyone care to make a list of the differences?
