[b]Christian Love
Josh Williamson
[i]By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Every Sunday a large congregation gathered at the Bible Believing Church, many of the people had been going to this church for such a long time, that they couldn’t remember when they had gone anywhere else.
The pastor of Bible Believing Church was Pastor Biblical Preacher, who loved the Word of God and cared greatly for his church. This pastor would literally pray for all those in the congregation, and regular call people to make sure everything was going well. He was a real people person, and a pastor that loved those whom God had appointed him over.
One day a new person entered into the church – Miss Full of Zeal. Miss Full of Zeal was one of those people that was a friendly outgoing person, who would take the time to talk to strangers, and to even get involved in the ministry.
Everything was fine within the Bible Believing Church for some time til one day, Miss Busybody saw something she didn’t like with Miss Full of Zeal. So Miss Busybody took it upon herself to point out this problem.
But before Miss Busybody spoke to Miss Full of Zeal, she decided to go and talk to Mrs.
Gossip, and her husband Mr. Gossip. Upon hearing the news Mrs. Gossip agreed that there was in fact a problem, and that she had been thinking about it for sometime. So together they agreed that something must be done.
Miss Full of Zeal was completely unaware of that which was going on, and continued in her life. All the while Mrs. Gossip, and Miss Busybody were talking to many people within Bible Believing Church.
Many things were being said about Miss Full of Zeal that was not true, and eventually it reached her ears that people were gossiping about her. When she heard that people were gossiping about her, and didn’t have enough love and concern to talk to her themselves. She was really hurt at the church, and viewed Christians as being unloving. This made her to want to leave the church.
Miss Full of Zeal lost her zeal after that, and had a fear of going to church in case she would get hurt again. But Miss Busybody, and Mrs. Gossip continued on enjoying the preaching at Bible Believing Church.
Their lack of love caused the zeal to be quenched, and someone to leave the church.
Jesus Christ commanded His followers to love one another, just as He has loved us (John 13:34) but many of His followers show no sign of love. Instead they are busybodies and gossips who think of, and care for no one but themselves.
The world is to know who the followers of Christ are by their love for each other, but far to often no love is shown. But the question is: Are you guilty of lacking love?
Do you love those within the church that are unloving?
Do you love those who come into the church that are new?
Do people know that you love them?
Or is your church like the Bible Believing Church that is nice on the outside, and even has a good pastor. But the people aren’t loving?
Do you show a lack of love by being busybodies, and gossiping, or do you show genuine concern for your fellow believers?
[i]I am told that Christians do not love each other. I am very sorry if that be true, but I
rather doubt it, for I suspect that those who do not love each other are not Christians.
