I have used this quote a few times and think that really what happens is that folk's affections get seduced by the plethora of entertainments and in time get lax in their devotional life. They cease to set their affections on things above and a transition sort of takes place in which their 'mindedness' changes from heavenly to earthly.

we put warning labels on medicine and cleaning supplies {potentially hazardous materials} to keep out of reach of children; to protect them yet we turn them loose in thier room with the remote and let the world poison thier minds!
