Im not sure if anyone else has posted on this but this is something that has been pressing on me a long time now. And that something Leonard Ravenhill happened to hit it right on the head for me...DISCIPLINE!!!

The problem of the Church is the problem in the
garden of Gethsemane-sleep! For while men sleep,
the enemy, sows his seed through his cults. Lest
men sleep the sleep of eternal death, 0h arm of the
Lord, 0h Church of the living God, awake!
If the church is going to attain to her potential in
this last hour, it is apparent that we are going to
have to dust off an old word that many of us have
forgotten is in the English language -- DISCIPLINE!
Today, immediately when one gets out of step with
a nearby Christian, he is considered a legalist. Just
remember, in "that great day of Judgment" when
we must an stand before His throne, no man will be
ashamed he was dubbed over-spiritual, though
many will weep, groan, and "suffer loss" because of
lack of discipline.
Truth lies fallen in the street! "Let the Church sleep!
If she wakes, she will shake the world." Is not the
Church the sleeping giant of today?

I have been warned that the 'crowd' who listen to Ravenhill and Wilkerson are too legalistic and too serious, but it is my desire to become serious for the Lord!!! I become frustrated with myself after a day has gone by and i know i could have used it more wisely. I pray God enables me to discipline myself enough to replace times of idleness for time with my precious Lord.

I have been warned that the 'crowd' who listen to Ravenhill and Wilkerson are too legalistic and too serious, but it is my desire to become serious for the Lord!!! I become frustrated with myself after a day has gone by and i know i could have used it more wisely.

There used to be a saying used by breakfast cereals that went something like, "Our product is part of your nutritious breakfast." So it is with Ravenhill and Wilkerson, it is an essential part of a nutritious spiritual diet. ;-)

One tends to forget that the words disciple and discipline go hand in hand.

A disciple is a learner, as were the disciple of Jesus, and so are we.

Who wants a bad example to follow?

I think Ravenhill, Wilkerson etc are good examples to follow. As will be anyone who has a genuine fear of God, by not altering the word of God to suit their own passions, or those of others.

I agree with you sister Geraldine. I know just what you mean. I am tired of ending a day feeling that i have not made good use of time. Discipline is needed, but i think we must always remember grace, which i never used to. I would beat myself up and forget that God acceptes me already in Christ apart from what I have done or not done that day. But thats not to say that we should sit back and take it forgranted.

I have been challenged by Eph 4 when it tells us to live as wise not unwise, redeeming the time because the days are evil. May the Lord help us to use time wisely, not in the sprirt of legalism but in the Spirit of life and grace and love.

DISCIPLINE!!!

I have quoted this many times and I believe it with all my heart this statement: "We are the most un-disciplined generation to ever exist in the body of Christ."

We don't travail,
We don't prevail,
We don't pray through,
We don't fast and pray

We rather try,
We rather play,
We rather sleep through,
We rather eat and speak.

I know the Lord is raising a remenant in the church that are hungry for God and pressing through if even it has to be against the masses of the world and the masses of a lukewarm church.

"O generation, see ye the word of the Lord!" -jeremiah 2:31
