"For Our Happiness or HIS Glory?"

In today's world we find a lot of churches that want to have a million activities going on, beg for money, say it's all right to live in sin and profess to be a Christian, and live like it's our happiness that matters. The truth is people are all about themselves. We preach a message that says,"Get saved so that you can go to Heaven and be happy. You don't want to go to Hell because that will hurt you." Yes; sometimes we acknowledge the fact that we have to give up our own pleasures, but most of the time it is all about us.
We need to get back to the way that God originally planned. He created us for His glory. Yes, He loves us and His desire is for us to be happy, but our happiness should not be what motivates us to serve our AWESOME SAVIOUR. So many times we seek happiness and hear that the Christian life is happy, so we "seek" God.{Let me use the word "seek" very carefully. We are not actually seeking God, but our happiness with a false disguise of seeking God.} Instead, we need to truly SEEK God NO MATTER WHAT and then the joy of the Lord will simply be a gift from the Lord.

Grace, for most people this is the primary motivation that is needed to get people right with God. Then after you have this fire insurance, you need to concentrate on learning to know your Redeemer!

Yes, I understand your concern. Most churches are little more then social clubs using enough religion to make people feel good without experiencing the cross.

Grace:

I noticed this was your first post, so welcome to the site.

No doubt you have visited it many times, but have now decided to join in.

Yes, many today do not seek God's glory. Maybe they have never been taught. What teaching are they sitting under?

Scripture tells us, he who glories, let him glory in the Lord.

Again in 1 Cor 10v31 it says ...do all to the glory of God.

For me, most times, when posting, I like to use scripture.

Opinion doesn't matter, the word of God does.

I look for the use of scripture in threads, sermons, teachings, basically everything.

It's a personal safeguard of mine.

Once again, welcome.

God bless.
