Answering the Call: Missionary to Greensboro, NC

K

I would like to request prayer. Wednesday morning at work, I believe God spoke to me this phrase: "Missionary to Greensboro." I have wrestled with it for several days, and finally told my fiance tonight that I believe God is calling me to be a missionary, and that the first place He is sending me is a town in the state I live (North Carolina) by the name of Greensboro.

I believe God wants me to go to Greensboro in a few gradual steps. I believe He wants me to start by holding a week-long open-air preaching engagement at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. I believe I will make several such trips between where I live and Greensboro over the next couple years, before finally settling down for a while to really establish a local church, and then moving on elsewhere.

Pray that God would reveal to me as time goes on more of the specifics, and that I would trust Him throughout it all. As it has been for several years already, I have mostly been sitting and waiting to hear from God in regard to direction for ministry. And I believe He finally answered in that still small voice that has since seized me.

Pray that God would also deepen my character. While I don't believe I am an infant in the faith, I believe I simply am among the "young men." I want to press on to maturity.

Pray that God would also make me more of a soul winner. I must admit, though I have often done the work of an evangelist, and frequently have done open-air preaching, door-knocking, handing out tracts, one-on-one chats, and have been lately weekly ministering at a homeless shelter, I have not seen a flood of souls come into the kingdom. I have led a small number into the kingdom, but, not as many as you would probably hope an aspiring "missionary" to have won.

God bless.

Brother this is wonderful, may God grant you a burden for those whom you are sent to. I will pray for you and your fiance as well.

Good prayer request. Count it as done.

Your called to evangelism those that God has called you to. Don't let Satan condemn you for any reason. One salvation is as good as 1,000 as long God is with you.

Brother, the Lord will lead you, I'm sure of that. May the Lord bless you and keep you. :-)

Be faithful with what the Lord is putting in your heart. Pray over the city. Perhaps God will likely have you doing prepratory work such as praying and visiting the city for a year before you even beginning the work. Herein lies the patient endurance of the saints. God is not in a rush. Be faithful brother.

Amen. I believe this to be the case.

Good prayer request. Count it as done.

In regard to character I want to be like Katz says an apostolic man should be, that is, "the thing in itself." Granted, according to Paul not even all his missionary companions were such. But, I think this is how it ought to be for God's sake. I hope that like Paul I will be able to say things like, "you know what men we proved to be... these hands ministered to my needs... day and night preaching with tears... etc." To some degree of measure I can say that now, but I don't simply want a measure I want the fulness thereof.

Granted, I know by saying such that I ask God for trials. But, for God's sake, so beit :)

I just thought I'd share this comforting word of confirmation I received today at church regarding my call.

I've not talked over this issue with anybody at church yet save for my fiance, other than making prayer request Wednesday night that God would send a word of confirmation regarding this call. This Sunday morning at church we had a southern gospel group visiting our church to minister. About 4 or 5 songs into the morning, the Spirit of God really began moving in our midst. The lead singer of this group came down fromt he stage and began to preach.

Then she began to lay hands on people and pray for them, and she then started to prophesy over various people in our congregation. She didn't know any of these people whatsoever, but knowing the saints she spoke over, I knew the words she was speaking were from God.

Eventually after ministering to quite a number of people, she eventually came to me. She took my hand and began to prophesy to me that God was showing me things that were from His Spirit, and that He had given me the ability to speak His word with power. She also told me that God wanted me to "go, go, go!"

I'm normally personally very cautious about receiving personal words of prophesy from people. I have personally had a lot of junk spoken over me over the years that was not from God. But, I have no doubt whatsoever about this. It's amazing how God is watching over His word to perform it.

Thanks for the offer. I'm going to be talking to my pastor tomorrow over lunch, and see if he can help me with any connections he might have in that area.
