Silence in Heaven

Revelation 8v1: 'When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.

What? Silence in heaven for half and hour?

First, God and heaven are outside of time, time is for us earth bound creatures.

Second, doesn't Revelation 4v8 tell us ...and they do not rest day or night, saying 'Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come'.

If then, heaven is outside of time, and the worship of God is eternal, what then is this silence in heaven?

This silence occurs just after the seventh seal has been opened. I've heard it described as the calm before the storm. Maybe that is what it is.

This much I do know, on a personal level, I find it scary. Why? Silence in heaven. No worship of God, or does it mean that? What are we in for, if it is the calm before the storm?

What I do know is this, let's worship, praise and thank God all we can now, for who He is, what He has done, and for what He is yet to do, and for the coming revival.

[b]Note:[/b] This "silence in heaven about the space of half an hour" is actually 1/2 a season(3.5 yeas of the whole season of the 7 year tribulation) because He uses the term hour for the term season also in these verses, see vv.s Rev. 3:10, Rev. 17:12 Rev. 18:10, Rev. 18:17, Rev. 18:19.
You would not think by common sense that these references are actually one hour.

This 1/2 a season is spoken of for our recognition of a division of events.

First we see the rapture in chapter 7, then heaven becomes silent because of awe & reverence for what is about to happen, in other words God's wrath. The trumpets are part of Gods' wrath along with the vials.[color=990000]

where is the rapture in Chapt 7? also if the same term is used in Revelation 3:10 for the opening of the door for Philadelphia to escape the hour of trial, it stands to reason that the other 6 churches don't get that same provision (5 of them have things they need to repent of)so the rapture would be of Philadelphia and not the other 6 meaning not every saint will get a way out. this to me speaks to the rapture of those saints who have been enduring tribulation and will endure until that day.

anyhow i took a look at the Matthew Henry commentary and it had this to say about rev 8 vs 1 and the silence in heaven. perhaps there is something to think about here?

[b] In these verses we have the prelude to the sounding of the trumpets in several parts. I. The opening of the last seal. This was to introduce a new set of prophetical iconisms and events; there is a continued chain of providence, one part linked to another (where one ends another begins), and, though they may differ in nature and in time, they all make up one wise, well-connected, uniform design in the hand of God. II. A profound silence in heaven for the space of half an hour, which may be understood either, 1. Of the silence of peace, that for this time no complaints were sent up to the ear of the Lord God of sabaoth; all was quiet and well in the church, and therefore all silent in heaven, for whenever the church on earth cries, through oppression, that cry comes up to heaven and resounds there; or, 2. A silence of expectation; great things were upon the wheel of providence, and the church of God, both in heaven and earth, stood silent, as became them, to see what God was doing, according to that of Zec. 2:13, Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord, for he has risen up out of his holy habitation. it seems there will be some saints on earth whose prayers come up as incense during the silence and i'm sure even throughout the rest of the tribulation as there will be saints here during that time. this says to me the rapture is not going to be what we think it is, ie the gathering of the WHOLE church, that happens after the tribulation.
