Dear Theologians of SI

'In Christ' is a phrase that is predominant in the New Testament. During two debates recently I noticed another phrase: 'In Adam'. Now it is apparent that some shall be 'In Christ', but it seems that all were 'In Adam'. I am not fully convinced of this second idea, but would really like to read some of the thoughts on this matter.

I was thinking about your question and this verse comes to mind concerning our once [i]being in Adam[/i].

[b][color=000000]And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son [u]in his own likeness, after his image[/u]; and called his name Seth[/color][/b]

Then as I was just now searching for something in the scriptures I came across this passage also:

[b][color=000000]The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, [u]such are they also that are earthy[/u]: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And [u]as we have borne the image of the earthy[/u], we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. [/color][/b]

And of being [i]in Christ[/i] I found these passages

[b][color=000000]And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.[/color][/b]

[b][color=000000] Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him[/color][/b]
