Forgiveness | SermonIndex

Hey, this might sound like a silly and obvious question, but I got a bit confused and would appreciate clarification.

When you are forgiven by God, does that forgiveness cover the sins you have commited, or does it also cover the sins that you have yet to commit?

Was chatting to someone about suicide, and they said that if you did kill yourself, you would go to hell because you wouldnt have received forgiveness for that sin. But I've always thought that we've already been forgiven for every sin, past, present and future.

Bible references would be appreciated.

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior your sins will be forgiven, it's kind of hard for him to forgive a sin that has not been committed yet, so actually that would not even be sin, sin is not sin unless you have already committed a sin, hope this helps. :-)

This seems to be a common thought among the 'once saved always saved' camp but if this is true then I wonder what the purpose of this verse is...
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
(1Jo 1:9)

Concerning suicide, I cannot speak much on the topic other than to say that I wouldn't be too sure that if you are a Christian and you take your life that God will welcome you into heaven. If God did decide to let you into heaven, that would be His decision and He is just but, would He be any less just in denying you entrance into heaven? I don't think so and that question alone should be enough to stop someone cold. The other thing that should stop you is love for Christ, if you are truly His then His will should be first.
