I think so.
Repentance is an 'about turn.' You realise your sin, ask for mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ, but that is only the first part. You also need to leave that sin behind and strive to avoid it, with the help of Almighty God. If you don't ever repent, then I don't think you realise that you are in sin and need rescuing.
I would be worried if a Christian told me they had never repented.
Conversion and salvation are two totally different things. Peter converted after he denied christ. Repentance (in this present time) is a part of sanctification which is a process. It has nothing to do with salvation.
If we can get these things straight it will open up a whole new revelation of what the bible is talking about. John the Baptist was preaching the gospel of the kingdom. This is when Jesus sets up the Kingdom on earth and rules with a rod of iron. The millenial reign. When our doctrine is warped it causes doubt and fear. It has taken me several years to get these things straight.

I'm am not trying to be rude, but, why the obvious question?
I don't believe you can have salvation without repentance.
But I know many that preach a grace that doesn't save from sin but will save you from hell. To me, sin is hell on earth! I hate it, and must fight sin in my own life constantly with the Spiritual weapons Christ has so graciously given me. It is grace that gives me power over sin. Anything that gives sin power over me is of the devil as far as I'm concerned. I choose not to let sin rule and reign over me, but sin does live in me... there's no doubt about that.
I don't want a free pass into heaven, but God to be glorified in my life... Not my will, but Thy will be done!!!
Touch more on this later if the Lord wills me.
God calls us to be set apart for His use. No soldier lives unto himself unless he's out of the service... that's how I "strongly" feel about this to say the least.

PS. And as far as the thief on the cross meeting Jesus in paradise that Holy Day, I believe that was an "act of repentance" on the part of the thief, because he walked in the light of his conscience. Being believing on the Christ saying, "Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom"(Luke 23:42, kjv)). This one also acknowledged his sin, not like the other saying, "Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss."(luke 23:40b-41, kjv).
Many "self-professing" christians do not fear God whom Jesus told to fear (Mt. 10:28, kjv)... Sin seperated us from the Father, which is why Christ came. So why be a dog that returns to its vomit, or a washed pig that goes back to rolling in the mud? Why will you die oh Israel?
