To all the "Prophets"

sermonindex Jan 23, 2007

Hebrews chapter 1: 1-3 clearly tells us that the ministry of the "old testament" prophet has been fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

1God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

2Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

3Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

The ministry of Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Hosea, etc. has been fulfilled.

Their main ministry was to point Israel to the coming Messiah, and He has now come.

Yes, of course, there is prophecy in the New Testament, and I think brother Philologos has a pretty good teaching on it, you should check it out.
-------------------------------------------------
I have a request for all the "prophets", and I am serious, I am not being facitious.

Before you post your next prophecy could you please share with us something that the Holy Spirit has shown you concerning the person of Jesus Christ?
-------------------------------------------------
When Jesus was walking with the men on the road to Emmaus, after the resurrection, He talked to them about One thing. Himself.

25Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

26Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

27And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

He did not talk to them about the evils of Rome. He did not talk to them about the coming destruction of Jerusalem. He did not talk to them about the continuing Hypocrisy of the religious leaders.

No, His concern was to reveal to them who He is. And if we read John 14-16 we will see that this is also the main ministry of the Holy Spirit.
--------------------------------------------------
I will paraphrase, but Peter says that the prophets of old would have given anything to see what we see. We can have an intimacy with God that they could only dream of.

I have said before that anyone can point out the evils of the "church". All you have to do is read a couple of Ravenhill books and regurgitate them.

But to know God, to experience the Life of Jesus Christ and then be able to give that life to others...that is the true treasure...that is what we should be seeking. To know Him.

No tabernacles built for Moses and Elias, representing the Priest and the Prophets on the Mount of transfiguration when Peter, and James, and John saw Him transfigured before them no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves and the were told by the beloved Father that Jesus was His beloved Son: Hear Him..

Their main ministry was to point Israel to the coming Messiah, and He has now come.

have you read all the prophets?

what was jeremiah sent for?

to root out,and pull down, to destroy, and throw down, to build and plant (jer. 1:10)

a prophet cannot even begun to build and plant until he first root out and pull down. and not all prophets are called to do the same things.

jeremiah did similar to what jesus did in rev. He expose them to their sin, and told them to repent. the church could not have been built up until they first root out the sin.

jeremiah spoke very hard words. all the prophets did. it was harder then joseph's words. Jesus started out speaking just like jeremiah how he remebers the "good" they have, but now they are wicked, and have sin and in need to repent before its too late.

the prophets of old would say IF they repent THEN will the Lord be merciful and restore.......just like Jesus in rev.

I have a request for all the "prophets", and I am serious, I am not being facitious.

prophets will speak what the Lord tells them to speak, not what mahoney shares.

i believe that you are so focus on the negative of the prophets that you have missed out on the hope that the prophets shares. just like isreal, who cast out the prophets because their words were too hard, exposing their sins that they became hard of heart to hearing the message of restoration and healing from the prophets, if His people would humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways.

Prophet comes from the word SEER. Their purpose is to see what is coming and to tell others. As well, God gives every prophet a certain word. :-)

prophets will speak what the Lord tells them to speak, not what mahoney shares.

I agree - Mahoney has little understanding of the prophetic in the church today. Part of what he is saying is correct, but he leave a big part of the picture out. It seems as though he only sees on of or two of the pieces of the puzzle and not the whole picture. I would suggest that anyone who wish to further there understanding about "prophets" and the "prophetic" check out these sermons here on sermonindex. These will help to increase the understanding of those who posses a teachable spirit - if you are unteachable and dogmatic in your understanding then don't bother.

Who is the only true and active Prophet we have now? It is Jesus Christ. If Jesus Christ is born again in us, do we all not have the capacity to be prophets by His power and direction and the leading of the Holy
Spirit. Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

If Christ liveth in us who's life are to live? The true prophet of Jesus Christ is anyone He chooses to us in the building up of the Church in knowing Him and making Him known, this is true prophecy.

I agree - Mahoney has little understanding of the prophetic in the church today.

(First of all, it’s not about me, and I if I made it seem like it’s about me, I am sorry)

Ok, let's say I am ignorant of the role of a "prophet" today. (Of which, admittedly, I am somewhat ignorant)

Lets' say a prophet is telling someone of the coming calamities on the world and the church and that someone believes this "prophet" and is very fearful and repentant. They ask, "What do I have to do?"

What do you, or the "prophet" give that individual? What do you tell them?

Lets' say a year or so down the road that individual comes to you and says that they have been struggling with sin and they have actually fallen into an old sin.

What do you tell them? What do you give them?

Let's say this same individual finds it so hard to get up in the morning to pray, and more times than not they fail to really spend quality time with God.

What do you tell them? What do you give them?

Let's say this individual really wants to live for God, but he finds it so difficult to do. He wants to be a shining witness for God, but he also is trapped in fear. The things he desires to do he does not find the strength to do them, and the things that he knows displease God he finds himself doing sometimes. He lives under condemnation and cannot seem to get out from under it. He still believes that judgment is coming, and that God is going to judge him also.

What do you give this man? What do you tell him?

R
rowdy2 Jan 24, 2007

Give this man a Bible and help him understand
Matthew: 10 I am a deciple. A "little one".

A disciple of Christ is one who

(1.) believes his doctrine,

(2.) rests on his sacrifice,

(3.) imbibes his spirit, and

(4.) imitates his example (Matt. 10:24; Luke 14:26, 27, 33; John 6:69).

Mahoney

Ok, let's say I am ignorant of the role of a "prophet" today. (Of which, admittedly, I am somewhat ignorant)

you're not the only one bro, many many more people are unsure of what a prophet is hence you have people like nostradamus being hailed as prophets. the truth is, a prophet speaks the heart of God to His people as He is led. He can say no more or less than what God gives Him which becomes a problem when people get to asking a bunch of questions to which he is constrained to answer sometimes. Anyhow, this word from God may or may not be anything to do with the future, Samuel was a prophet but didn't have much to say about the future, as was Abraham, Elijah, Elisha and some others also.

Lets' say a prophet is telling someone of the coming calamities on the world and the church and that someone believes this "prophet" and is very fearful and repentant. They ask, "What do I have to do?"

now when our Lord does tell of something terrible to come, the idea is to give people time to repent before hand. if someone is fearful and repentant in response to the warning of the prophet, there is nothing really that the prophet must tell him because he is repentant already. if our Lord has more specific instructions then that's a different matter. if the person if fearful and genuinely doesn't know what to do like those who came to John the Baptist, what did he tell them to do? "REPENT!!!"

Lets' say a year or so down the road that individual comes to you and says that they have been struggling with sin and they have actually fallen into an old sin.

confess your sin and REPENT!!! because God is just to forgive us if we do confess our sins before Him. Repentance and death to self are things which we must practice daily. again if God has more specific instructions, then our Lord will surely give the prophet unction and words to speak.

Let's say this same individual finds it so hard to get up in the morning to pray, and more times than not they fail to really spend quality time with God.

i am reminded by our Lord through this which you said about ELijah. Elijah spent 2 years with that gentile woman. when he came to her, she had enough meal to make one last loaf of bread and then wait to die with her son. if anyone was hopeless, she was. i suppose she had a hard time believing in God but when Elijah came and asked for the last bit of food she had, she at first refused but eventually gave it up and for 2 yrs the 3 of them didn't go hungry. when that 2 yrs was over, she came away knowing and believing in God and being convinced Elijah was a man of God. We are to minister to others as our Lord leads. if it is a word of admonition, a prayer, giving of food and drink, clothing or whatever. We sometimes have to show the way to do things as we are led also.

ultimately it boils down to what God is seeking to do in that person's life and your role in that. if we seek God concerning this and follow after what He needs us to do then we'll have fully obeyed Him regaring the matter.

Before you post your next prophecy

the rule which I am going to add to the community rules is for the prophetic words to be sent to me and it will be prayed over by the moderator staff. And if it is approved the poster will be notified. I believe that if we posted every prophecy that is being written there would be such a influx of these "words" that it will muddle and confuse the saints towards what God is saying. The SermonIndex community is setup with rules and is somewhat of a model of a true community fellowship. I would therefore say that there should be respect towards some sort of God ordained leadership to allow God to work and speak to the people in this community.

If anyone has problems with this please notify me privately. I have had already one brother state to me that he would not submit to that "rule" and post what he would like. This is a spirit of rebellion and I do ask all to pray about this and "answer God" on this rule.

For Prophets Only
By Keith Green

This article is sort of a confession. You see, I have struggled with the problem of being labeled a "prophet" for the past six years, and that's quite a long time, considering I've only been a Christian for about seven. I must admit it has kind of a nice ring to it - the word prophet - but I think it causes a lot more trouble than it's worth.

Because we at Last Days have a nationally-known ministry, many people show up at our door from all over the country and want to see first hand what's going on. From time to time though, someone shows up with a "word from the Lord." (I'm not trying to be sarcastic. We've had some pretty interesting characters show up at the door.)

We had one guy show up and when we invited him to eat a meal with us, he said that God had told him not to eat. We asked him, "How long?" He said he didn't know, but he wasn't supposed to eat. Another time, we had a guy with long robes show up who said that God told him to come and tell all the ministries around here that the Garden of Eden was in the state of Georgia!

These are some extreme examples of something I think is a very common problem in the church today - young people (usually men) who believe that God has raised them up to tell people what is wrong with their ministry or their lives, or both! These people are usually hurt, independent, talkative, stubborn, unteachable and unyielding. I know, because I have been one of them!

What is a true prophet?

God does speak to His people today - not just His special ones - but to all His people. He speaks to them in many ways - through the Holy Spirit who lives in them, through men and women of God in their church and around them, but mainly through the Word of God, the Bible. Whenever the Holy Spirit gives us guidance, it will always line up with the Word God, or it isn't from Him.

As I was studying His precious Word over the past year, it suddenly dawned on me that my whole view of myself and my calling was all backwards. So many people had told me that I was a "prophet" over the years that I believed "they must be right." I saw myself as a spokesman to my generation in the church - not the spokesman, but one of a number, chosen by God to be used to correct and exhort believers to obey God and thus win this world for Jesus.

It's not that I no longer believe that I'm called to do that, it's just that now I see that every believer is called to do that - to call all Christians everywhere to obey God and win the world for Christ!

The main thing that God has shown me through all this is: I'm not called to be a prophet, I'm called to be a CHRISTIAN - a servant of the living God! That is the HIGHEST calling that anyone can realize. And the most beautiful thing has happened in my heart. My whole goal in life has completely changed - the only thing that I want to achieve, is to have the Lord tell me when I stand before Him, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant! Not, "Well done, thou good and faithful prophet."

To be a Christian, to live up to that wonderful word - that is my ONLY goal. After all, Paul starts out that meaty book of Romans with these words: "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle." Not "... an apostle of Jesus Christ, called to be a servant." No, Paul had his priorities straight - he knew what went first!

A lesson to be learned

I'm sure you know someone in your fellowship who has all the earmarks of being a potential "prophet." They don't beat around the bush, but they say exactly what's on their mind. They aren't very popular, but they don't care because they believe that they're "being persecuted for righteousness' sake." They're always finding fault with almost everything and rarely have a kind word to say.

And the thing that usually happens to these misguided souls with all the rough edges is that somebody tells them, "Hey! I know what you are, you're a PROPHET!" And then they say to themselves, " Wow! That's why people are so down on me all the time! Why that's just the way they treated Elijah and Jeremiah!"

And then they start getting "words from the Lord" and all the rest that comes along with being a "prophet." The saddest thing about all this is whenever someone is brash, obnoxious, or loud, we label him a "prophet."

But you know, deep down inside, most of them really do want to please God, but now they're so insulated from criticism and protected from rebuke (because they think they're a rejected "prophet") that no one can help them or reach them. And unless God intervenes in their lives, they cannot be used in any long-term way because of their unteachable, uncorrectable spirit.

One of the main problems for them is that most of what they see as wrong, really IS wrong! But they have little love or grace to share the truth with - they just aim their big cannons and BOOM! They blow their hearers to bits.

I'm not trying to say that what I wrote or preached in the past was wrong. It's just that some of it could have been said a little differently - and with a lot more grace. Even so, if the Lord says to speak out on an issue, I'll be glad and ready to do it - but I must do it as a servant, not as a prophet. That is Jesus' way.

Hallelujah for the freedom that comes with repentance! Oh, how He makes us new, forgiving us and changing us into His glorious image!

i agree with greg's post. it should be submitted to greg first.

i disagree with keith green. i believe that God has seperated some as prophets, but i do agree that every christians should encourage each other to KNOW HIM. i don't think keith green was a prophet, but i believe he has prophectic gifting. paul encourages the church to desire the gift of prophecy. by keith's article you can tell he desired this gift and so was used to encourage and exort others to do so also, just like paul.

1 Corinthians 14:1

1 Corinthians 14
Prophecy and Tongues
1 Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.

to have this gift of prophecy you must know Him. in order to speak the heart of God, you must have a relationship to hear from Him, right? so, yes, i too would encourage all to seek this gift so they speak God's words, His heart, and not their own. they will be better equipt in ministering to the body with this gift.

just like God have raised up evangelist to encourage and train the body to evangelise, but you can see that those who are raised up for evangelist do have more of a gifting to share the gospel. though all are called to do the same, the evangelist do stick out. the same with prophets. all are called to desire the gift of prophecy, but those who are prophets will stick out more with this gift because it was given to them by God. the gift, God's people burns in them, just like evangelism and the lost burns in the evangelist.

paul encourages the church to desire prophecy. we all should be prophesying to one another. prophecy is just not futuristic sayings. prophecy is also exortating and encouraging the body to get right with God, live holy lives, speaking the heart of God. prophecy is exposing the heart. ouch!

1 Corinthians 14:24-25

24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all. 25 And thusthe secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you.

remember prophets need refining too, and learning to grow in their gift, unto maturity.

if you want to understand this gift more, i agree with christisking and listen to those who have the gift and are in maturity like art katz.

i believe the prophets is the hardest gift. you won't understand unless you have it. they suffer internally. those who are true prophets do not want this gift at first. they will cry out to God to take it away from them. i won't go on with this, because many will not understand. if you really want to understand more about this gift then listen to art katz or tozer. those who have matured in this gift.

God bless

Why aren't tht "prophesies" of modern "Prophets" stapled into our Bibles? Are they God-breathed or not? If they "miss God" or speak awry should they be stoned? Just wondering.

I'm just adding my two cents here but to me, the true treasure is that "Christ be formed in us!!" "Christ in us, THAT is the hope of Glory!!"

I'd like to rephrase what you wrote: We have an intimacy that is "available" to us that the prophets of old only dreamt of having. Lisa adds that whether we walk in it or not is another thing entirely.

(Paraphrasing here) Christ told Peter, "don't worry about what I told John to do, you feed my sheep." He more or less told Peter that John had a different calling than He did and not to worry about John but to worry about himself. To make sure that Christ is formed in Peter, don't worry about John!

I believe in prophets, though I think that there are actually a lot less "true" prophets out there than they think! lol In reality, I'm just called to do what Christ called "me" to do! To pay attention to "my" walk and not focus on anyone elses' and to make sure that I make myself available so that Christ is formed in me.

If we all did that, we wouldn't need these message boards except only for encouragement!

God bless you in your walk with Him!

Galatians 4:6-7 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

A true prophet is a servant of God, but it says we are no longer servants. Also Paul said the mystery of Christ was revealed to him and him alone by Jesus Christ Himself. So, even the 12 did not know the mystery of Christ in us the Hope of Glory. Then he goes on to say that now by him, Paul, it is revealed to Gods Holy Apostles and Prophets. Wow! Christ being the only Son of God was God the Apostle and Prophet, the Perfect Apostle and Prophet of God. By Christ in us we are now son's of God. What does this mystery reveal about born again son's of God, being, when it comes to "Holy Apostles and Prophets?

Ephesians 3:4-12 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

My Brothers and Sisters, we are all apostles and prophets of God by Christ Jesus Himself in us. Let us go on into the higher calling God has called us to.

Philippians 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

Where is our perfection? It is in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior by the Birth of Christ Himself in us By the Perfect Seed of our Father. Abba Father. As son's, not servants.

In Christ: Abba Father, with in the spirit of an affectionate, tender child addressing his Father. He that can in sincerity and with ardent affection apply this term to God, addressing Him with a filial spirit as his Father, has the spirit of Christ in Him.

Which is the mystery: "Christ in you the Hope of Glory" Abba Father, Thank you. Phillip

Mmmm

I think that the prophetic word regarding the times we live in is from Isaiah 21:12, "The morning comes, but also the night"! And in Biblical terms night comes first.

Let's look forward to the Morning, but seek to be prepared for the night.

Someone mentioned Jeremiah. He prophesied doom and destruction, sure enough. But, when that destruction was literally at the gates, he bought a field right where the Babylonian armyt was camped!

That really takes faith!

Re. modern prophecies, they should be in line with Scripture, and in that same Spirit who inspired the written Word. Indeed those who have that gift should discern if a word really is of the Spirit or not.

But Moses said, "I wish all God's people were prophets..."

And Paul said, "you may all prophesy one by one..." but that all things should be done "decently and in order".

That's the Moderators' job I think ! :-)

Picture of a Prophet
by Leonard Ravenhill

"The prophet in his day is fully accepted of God and totally rejected by men.
Years back, Dr. Gregory Mantle was right when he said, “No man can be fully accepted until he is totally rejected.” The prophet of the Lord is aware of both these experiences. They are his “brand name.”

The group, challenged by the prophet because they are smug and comfortably insulated from a perishing world in their warm but untested theology, is not likely to vote him “Man of the Year” when he refers to them as habituates of the synagogue of Satan!

The prophet comes to set up that which is upset. His work is to call into line those who are out of line! He is unpopular because he opposes the popular in morality and spirituality. In a day of faceless politicians and voiceless preachers, there is not a more urgent national need than that we cry to God for a prophet! The function of the prophet, as Austin Sparks once said, “has almost always been that of recovery.”

The prophet is God’s detective seeking for a lost treasure. The degree of his effectiveness is determined by his measure of unpopularity.

He does not know compromise.
He has no price tags.
He is totally “otherworldly.”
He is unquestionably controversial and unpardonably hostile.
He marches to another drummer!
He breathes the rarefied air of inspiration.
He is a “seer” who comes to lead the blind.
He lives in the heights of God and comes into the valley with a “thus saith the Lord.”
He shares some of the foreknowledge of God and so is aware of impending judgment.
He lives in “splendid isolation.”
He is forthright and outright, but claims not birthright.
His message is “repent, be reconciled to God or else . . . !”
His prophecies are parried.
His truth brings torment, but his voice is never void.
He is the villain of today and the hero of tomorrow.
He is excommunicated while alive and exalted when dead!
He is dishonored with epithets when breathing and honored with epitaphs when dead.
He is a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, but few “make the grade” in his class.
He is friendless while living and famous when dead.
He is against the establishment in ministry, then he is established as a saint by posterity.
He eats daily the bread of affliction while he ministers, but he feeds the Bread of Life to those who listen.
He walks before men for days but has walked before God for years.
He is a scourge to the nation before he is scourged by the nation.
He announces, pronounces, and denounces!
He has a heart like a volcano and his words are as fire.
He talks to men about God.
He carries the lamp of truth amongst heretics while he is lampooned by men.
He faces God before he faces men, but he is self-effacing.
He hides with God in the secret place, but he has nothing to hide in the marketplace.
He is naturally sensitive but supernaturally spiritual.
He has passion, purpose and pugnacity.
He is ordained of God but disdained by men.

Our national need at this hour is not that the dollar recovers its strength, or that we find the answer to the ecology problem. We need a God-sent prophet!

I am bombarded with talk or letters about the coming shortages in our national life: bread, fuel, and energy. I read between the lines from people not practiced in scaring folk. They feel that the “seven years of plenty” are over for us. The “seven years of famine” are ahead. But the greatest famine of all in this nation at this given moment is a famine of the hearing of the Word of God (Amos 8:11).

Millions have been spent on evangelism in the last twenty-five years. Hundreds of gospel messages streak through the air over the nation every day. Crusades have been held; healing meetings have made a vital contribution. “Come-outers” have “come out” and settled, too, without a nation-shaking revival. Organizers we have. Skilled preachers abound. Multi-million dollar Christian organizations straddle the nation. BUT where, oh where, is the prophet? Where are the incandescent men fresh from the holy place? Where is the Moses to plead in fasting before the holiness of the Lord for our moldy morality, our political perfidy, and sour and sick spirituality?

God’s men are in hiding until the day of their showing forth. They will come. The prophet is violated during his ministry, but he is vindicated by history.

There is a terrible vacuum in evangelical Christianity today. The missing person in our ranks is the prophet, the man with a terrible earnestness, the man totally otherworldly. He is the man rejected by other men, even other good men, because they consider him too austere, too severely committed, too negative and unsociable.

Let him be as plain as John the Baptist.
Let him for a season be a voice crying in the wilderness of modern theology and stagnant “churchianity.”
Let him be as selfless as Paul the apostle.
Let him, too, say and live, “This ONE thing I do.”
Let him reject ecclesiastical favors.
Let him be self-abasing, nonself-seeking, nonself-projecting, nonself-righteous, nonself-glorying, nonself-promoting.
Let him say nothing that will draw men to himself but only that which will move men to God.
Let him come daily from the throne room of a holy God, the place where he has received the order of the day.
Let him, under God, unstop the ears of the millions who are deaf through the clatter of shekels milked from the hour of material mesmerism.
Let him cry with a voice this century has not heard because he has seen a vision no man in this century has seen.
God send us this Moses to lead us from the wilderness of crass materialism, where the rattlesnakes of lust bite us and where the enlightened men, totally blind spiritually, lead us to an ever-nearing Armageddon.
God have mercy! Send us prophets! – By: Leonard Ravenhill end of article

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let the words of Leonard Ravenhill speak to your heart and seek deep into your mind – we love Leonard and his words and celebrate his messages on this site, but the real question is “can we put them to practice and take them to heart when they smack our own face???”
God have mercy! Send us prophets!
“What if” God answers Leonard’s heart cries and rise up such men of the George Fox ilk? What would we do? Would we delete their posts? Would we kick them off the forum? Would we require them to submit their words for approval? Would we stone them for being “too harsh” or “too controversial”? Would we label him as having a rebellious spirit? Would we even recognize them or would we reject and vilify them? We say “we would never stone the prophets” but what will we do when and if they really come? These are important questions my friends and I hope and pray with dear Leonard that someday we will find the answer for my heart cries out with Leonard – GOD HAVE MERCY! SEND US PROPHETS!
Can you imagine a prophet submitting the word the Lord gives him to the “leaders” for approval – what would George Fox have to say about this? What did he have to say about this? What you suggest Greg, is the same kind of un-scriptural stuff that the institutional system tries to pull – “submit your word to the leadership for approval” – it is nothing more then a spirit of control and ANTI-scriptural. (If I am wrong – please show in Scripture where prophecy is submitted to leadership for approval and then spoken??? Isaiah – Jeremiah – Ezekiel – Amos – New Testament??????) It is not an issue of order but rather a spirit of control and we SHOULD rebel against such ANTI-scriptural and evil spirits with all our might – never are we told in Scripture to submit to spirits of control. I believe the same spirit of control out of which Greg speaks quenches the Holy Spirit as much if not more then any other spirit in the enemy’s camp. If this is the type of leadership and control that your fellowship lords over you then I suggest you run for your life and if this is the spirit you have picked up at “cemetery” or Bible college then you need to repent! Can you imagine Paul saying to the Corinthian church, “submit all of your prophesies to me for my approval and I will let you know what ones are suitable to be spoken in front of the saints”? Never! Paul knew better than to do this, and we should too.
To anyone who receives a prophetic word from the Lord – It would be very dangerous for you to submit to such spirits of control as Greg suggests – I would rather highly suggest that you speak the word the Lord gives you after much prayer and let the leaders respond as they so choose and answer to the Lord for their response – your job is to speak what the Lord tells you to speak where and when He tells you to speak it. I can assure you that any prophet of the kind that Ravenhill cries out to the Lord for above would NEVER submit the word the Lord gave them to leadership for approval. What will you do Greg if the Lord answers Leonard’s heart cries and God does raise up such men and they visit your forum??? Would you delete their words of correction – would you even know them if you saw them???
I speak only out of love and concern and only post this after much prayer. Please take this to heart and ask your self “What If?” before you make any decision to post in response or delete this heart felt word of correction. Please listen to this sermon by Art Katz lest you come against Biblical correction posted out of love and concern.
Description: Art raises the questions that few are courageous enough to ask, namely, the actual truth of our condition before God. Do we see ourselves as God sees us or are we satisfied with our own subjective assessment of ourselves? And where does that leave us if we prefer the latter?
