Key Word Study Bible and Church History

Just wondering...does anyone have a copy of the "Key Word Study Bible"?

What do you think of it? Is it worth purchasing?

Also, if anyone can recommend any books on Church history, that would be great.

I have a copy, and find it very useful for study purposes. The footnotes reflect the theology of the editor, but even if you disagree wih some of it, it's still a great study resource. If you have the money to spend, it's nice to have.

I agree with JoeA.

The Greek and Hebrew study helps are wonderful but the commentary is lacking.

It is evangelical, and teaches unconditional eternal security. If you believe that, you will love the commentary, but even if you don't it's still a good resource to have.

No commentary (regardless of what doctrinal positions one may hold) is 100% perfect anyway.

The commentary also believes the gifts have ceased.

I did not enjoy the commentary as much because it was written by someone who was obviously a Dispensationalist.

Nothing against them, just not what I believe from scripture.

But I love the Hebrew and Greek helps.

I met Argos Zhodiates, the brother of Spiros, many years ago. In fact, I was pastoring a church of which he had been pastor a few years earlier and he came to speak to his old church. He was a warm and generous man. He did not believe that spiritual gifts had continued but did not confront those who did. His declared strategy was not to nourish them so that those manifested in the church would just die away. :-o Spiros would no doubt be of a similar opinion. Argos had been a regular member of Westminster Chapel during the time of Martin Lloyd Jones and was of a Reformed position, but gentle with it.

I love it it has been my primary Bible for 5 of my 7yrs as a Christian. I have learned so much.

I have a customized NASB Key Word, customized meaning I went to charts contrasting Majority text vs. Alexandrian texts, and I added all the words, and verses pulled out back in.
