What did Paul mean when he said He has appointed in the church: first apostles (I could understand that), second prophets (why secondily prophets?), then teachers, then gifts of healing (?), miracles, administrations, etc. Elders, pastors, bishops aren't even mentioned in this passage but it is mentioned in Ephesians 4:11 "He gave some pastors and teachers"?
Also questions on 1 Corinthians 14. Is that how Paul desires services to be? Does he desire that all are participating in the meeting? 1 Cor 14:26 "All of you have a psalm, teaching, revelation, etc?"
Any thoughts/comments appreciated...
Much talk nowadays about how we have to return to early church leadership and participatory meetings. Yet many go to extremes with these thoughts and dismiss all churches today as being too institutional.
Need some clarity on this matter... Is it a silent matter in the Word? Is there a specific way to have leaders and church services?
