Hi everyone
The Lord brought me out of a denominational church in the early 1980's. Then He led me to a little church near home which had no official membership list. If you knew Jesus and came regularly to meetings then you were a member as far as they were concerned. I had many years of good fellowship there before moving from the area i 2002.
After some "seeking" I settled in the new local church, as the Lord directed. In this church they are very keen that one should "become a member" officially, and have put some subtle pressure on me from time to time.
But the Lord won't let me make this official "commitment" because He has placed me as a member of the whole Body of Christ, not merely that part where He has sent me to serve. I cannot be part of anything less than the whole any more.
This seems to worry folk - as If I'm a sort of a loose cannon, or not properly "committed", or "covered". Which is ridiculous! I attend meetings, love and respect the leaders of this church, pray for them and honour them for their gifts and the authority the Lord has given them to serve in this way.
Has anyone else here had a similar vision, leading or experience? Not easy to put into words, but if you have you will understand where I'm coming from.
Its far more than being open to fellowship with others, no matter what their label. It's having [b][i]no label at all
Jeannette
