Many divine miracles -brooks

Many divine miracles

(Thomas Brooks, "The Crown and Glory of Christianity,
or, HOLINESS, the Only Way to Happiness", 1662)

"Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold,
all things are become new!" 2 Corinthians 5:17

In every saved person, there are many divine
miracles; there is . . .
a dead man--restored to life,
a dumb man--restored to speech,
a blind man--restored to sight,
a deaf man--restored to hearing,
a lame man--restored to walking,
a man possessed with devils--possessed with grace,
a heart of stone--turned into a heart of flesh, and
a life of wickedness--turned into a life of holiness.

a man possessed with devils--possessed with grace,

I question this statement. Jesus cast out devils: they left their host and went elsewheres. To suggest they may stil live within a Christian body and it still be filled with the Holy Spirit does not mesh with Jesus teaching, does it?

Or, am I misunderstanding the writer?

Hi Ginnyrose

Or, am I misunderstanding the writer?

I think the statements are meant to be a Before/After comparison.

Derek Prince presented the view that Christians can be the hosts of evil spirits, although he had the view that the word "possessed" should be "under the influence". I'm inclined to agree with this. Minimally Christians still do satan's bidding from time to time. Jesus' rebuke of Peter illustrates this : "Get away from me satan..."
