Many churches using movie clips as part of there sermon now from Wingclips.com.

http://wingclips.com/ is a website where churches can download inspirational clips from Hollywood movies to incorporate into there messages.

2 problems I see: Movies are fantasy and what happens when the clip is over and the emotion flees? Your back to boring old Pastor Joe and mundane life.

The other problem I see is that pastor's might be doing this more frequent because there audience is getting bored or there's not enough substance in there message.

What do you think about showing movie clips at your church for inspiration?

if the holy spirit departed we better make up for it somehow, the reason you need anything new is because something old is missing.... remember what happened to Uzzah, he was trying to help God, God killed him.....there is a lot of dead churches who tried to help God...

Over a year and a half ago I used to go for years to a large contemporary small megachurch (1-2,000).

Most of the sermons would have video clips from movies. I remember Braveheart the most though (was the Pastor's favorite movie)... one time a guest speaker even showed a clip of Desperate Housewives, and used it as a way to go into a Sermon!

Church these days is more of a social institution designed to make you laugh, encourage, and entertain. Of course this is all done using the Bible-- which is where the deception starts.

I think it is sad that we have to even resort to entertainment to draw people to our churches. When I read about many of the past revivals I find that the most productive community change started with prayer and a deep love for the lost and a desire to see the lost saved. (Whitefield, Wesley, Spurgeon, are a few examples of men who spent much time on their knees and the results were staggering, all praise be to God.) They prayed to be broken and humbled themselves before God. If only more congregations would humble themselves, more pastors would humble themselves...2 Chronicles 7:14. If we all would take the scriptures more literally. I am not against using sermon illustrations and other effective analogies/visuals, but I hope that more churches would spend even more time in prayer crying out for the lost and hurting and allow the Spirit of God to draw them to our services to hear the message of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We must continue to go out into all the world and tell others about Jesus and the marvelous things He has done for us. We must have the heart of Christ. He was very effective and also spent much time in prayer. I have seen many of the clips for sermons and they do have a wonderful message. I know there were times Jesus taught and other times he preached. He used illustrations that the current culture could relate to. I hope not to seem to be old fashion, but when the Holy Spirit begins to move you don't need anything to assist Him. May God Bless You All! I love you all dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Count the cost.

There was a 5 mintue movie clip being shown in a "nazerene" church here in Victoria and I left with such a burden from the Holy Spirit in the middle of it. God simply told me "stand up and walk out." I was trembling with such a burden from the Holy Spirit. What a awful thing it is to put the worlds movies in the house of God. WE have fallen so far.

 Whatever next!! It would never happen at our assembly. What ever happened to good old fashioned Holy Spirit led preaching? Or do the Pastors feel inadequate? Do they think they will pull in a bigger crowd?

It grieves the Spirit.....

ok....this is really gut wrenching for me brothers and sisters because just last week i edited for one of the pastors of my church (he was preaching that sunday) a clip from a documentary called super size me.... the clip really was on food dependency the idol effect it has (a doctor talks about the addictive behavior that food has)... i just read this thread, and i am tired now, but i sure will be examining what i have done for the pastors now for sometime... I am beginning to see a different light on the subject folks. I have to pray and seek God about this matter. Ok going to work....good night folks
