Question on Healing | SermonIndex

This past Sunday during our church cell group, I had a horriable migrane headache hit me about half way through. At the end of the night, we took prayer requests, and I asked for prayer concerning my migrane. The saints there then laid hands on me and prayed, and when I opened my eyes after praying, I noticed the entire thing was gone. No migrane whatsoever. However, I noticed I still did have a cough and stuffy nose from my allergies.

Is there any biblical explination for this?

I'm not quoting from scripture here, but from simple experience of knowing what to pray for and expecting God to fulfil His word to me. It seems your faith was directed towards the emergency of the migraine, and that's what was put into the prayer request.

Did you ask for your stuffy nose and allergies to be healed?

I know sometimes God does far more than we ask or think. Other times though, He lets us break things up into bitesizes, and that's all He does. This is supposed to confirm our faith and experience of being guided by the Spirit....

It is not supposed to make us feel inadequate. However, this kind of experience might make us more inclined to ask for a bigger healing on another occasion, but I would suggest it is ~~[i]~~always[/i] important to remain within the remit given by the Holy Spirit, as you did.

No, I didn't ask for my stuffy nose/allergies.

And I was thinking perhaps it was simply because I asked for prayer regarding my migrane that is what was taken care of. So, since I asked for something specific, He answered specific.

Hmm, Jimmy.

From my point of view. I thought you knew like a massive amount more than me about healing and such, from reading your posts on SI.

But, if your sincerly asking, I hope I can give you my opinion on what I believe the Word says about it.

James 5 is strongly brought to my mind. Where God answered Elijah's "specific" prayer request.

God has answered NUMEROUS prayer requests. And I mean VERY specific stuff. I think if I honestly listed them, over the past 2 years, over 100 SPECIFIC requests have been answered. Not to be 'proud' for it but to show God has loving, caring and compassionate. That He cares for EVERYTHING in our life. Not 'just' sin and eternity. God really loves us.

Also, in the OT. God would heal Israel when they asked Him. Ex. 20:26 and Num. 12 and 21. (or looked upon the bronze serpent)

Well, the thing I find interesting about this is that I don't know of anything in Scripture where somebody who received some sort of divine healing, received healing just for a specific thing, and not for everything else as well. I mean, I know God answers us specifically in regard to our request.
