FUNNY ISN'T IT?

FUNNY ISN'T IT?

Funny how a $100 "looks" so big when you take it to church,
but so small when you take it to the mall.

Funny how long it takes to serve God for an hour,
but how quickly a team plays 60 minutes of basketball.

Funny how long a couple of hours spent at church are,
but how short they are when watching a movie.

Funny how we can't think of anything to say when we pray, but
don't have difficulty thinking of things to talk about to a friend.

Funny how we get thrilled when a baseball game goes into extra innings,
but we complain when a sermon is longer than the regular time.

Funny how hard it is to read a chapter in the bible,
but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a best selling novel.

Funny how people want to get a front seat at any game or concert,
but scramble to get a back seat at church services.

Funny how we need 2 or 3 weeks advance notice to fit a church
event into our schedule, but can adjust our schedule for other
events at the last moment.

Funny how hard it is for people to learn a simple gospel well
enough to tell others, but how simple it is for the same people
to understand and repeat gossip.

Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do not
have to believe, or to think, or to say, or do anything.

Funny how you can send a thousand 'jokes' through e-mail and
they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages
regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

FUNNY, ISN'T IT?

Are you laughing?

Are you thinking?

Sad, really. But "Amen"!

So true. Then we wonder why we have no revival.

We think so little of the Creator of the universe
and what His word says. As if what He says is a joke, funny, as is the key word in this thread.

Not one word in the Bible was for us to make fun of.

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment. Heb 9v27.

Think that's funny?

God bless.

Goldminer,
I realise what the article refered to, but I guess at the same time I was thinking of a conversation I had with a pastor's wife.

I was talking to her telling her that I like to listen to sermons online.

She said her husband does too. She hears him laughing in his office and wonders what he is laughing at. He laughs at the sermons. They are funny. They are meant to be.

Most the ones I listen to make me cry.

God bless.

i want a sermon to open up the word for me, to reflect my walk my life in the word of God, most times its an awful sight... but the spirit makes me want to press harder after holiness, after Christ likeness, after him reigning in me, death to self... letting God be God in me...

and a good sermon shows the truth to me, wonderful truths sometimes, sometimes awful and horrible truths...but id rather deal whit them now then other side of death...

and if we really believe what we so often claim to belive...this bible is the most serious book of all, who was it? that said........ -I'm not so worried about the things in the bible i don't understand... its the things i do understand that scares me.......

Matthew 6
19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 23But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

24"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

Oh Enid - that is very sad. Either this Pastor was listening to some sort of 'professional buffoon' or he takes the Word lightly. We need to be touched in some way, challenged, inspired, convicted, brought to our knees - but never entertained.

joyinjesus8,
You said sad, that doesn't even come close.

In the past, I've sat under this man's preaching, have cried and been convicted.

There was a time when we would have prayer at 7am from Mon-Fri, and also 24 hour prayer meetings where you could go in for a 4 hour slot, or more, and pray.

That doesn't happen now.

The demise is so unreal it has to be satanic deception. If not, what is it?

This is moving away from the original meaning of the thread, which was drawing analogies of things that don't mean much, until we have to give it to God, like our money.

Still, God is good. Praise the Lord!

God bless.
