Humility

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. James 4:10

i have read this verse many times, but i never really understood it.

Humble yourselves...

We are to bring ourselves low.

This is what Jesus did. "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." Philippians 2:8

He humbled Himself.

"For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased (made to be humble) ; and he that humbleth (made to be humble) himself shall be exalted." Luke 14:11

hmmmmm...

A friend of mine came back to town after attending bible school and started serving in church. He wanted to jump into ministry full-time, but decided the right place was to just serve in a couple of areas. After about a year he was brought on staff and is now doing full-time ministry like he wanted to.
