We are told by some that it is foolish to ask God for the Holy Spirit because this is the dispensation of the Holy Spirit. Thank God it is! God's mighty Spirit is with all men, He impinges on men's lives at all points and in unexpected places; but the great need is to receive the Holy Spirit that He may do [i]in us[/i] all that Jesus Christ did [i]for us[/i] on the Cross. There stands the mighty charter for every man and woman who will put it to the test--"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him? (Luke 11:13)

The regenerating and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit is to incorporate us into Christ until we are living witnesses to Him.
