The History of God by Karen Armstrong

can anyone shed some light on this book for me? a friend asked me what I thought and I haven't heard of the author - let alone the book

Armstrong tackles history from a "comparative religion" world-view. She's mostly an academic, and likes to take the "best" of each religion and mix them together to bring forth her interpretation of history. She's definitely one of the most popular authors for her field. Last I checked, she taught at Harvard.
