What the church needs

What the Church needs is not to be brought abck to some old path , or old form of religion. We do not need to be brought back to some old doctrine , or have some old time revival. What the church needs is a fresh revelation of the majesty of the Person of Jesus Christ. . Everytime Gods children fall out of line or give in to hersey or steer away from God. The father does not send them back to some old creed , or old time religion. He gives them a fresh revelation of his son. Thats why the Book of John was written and Colossians. We do not not to seek some old way , but seek the person of Christ. And the father to give us a fresh revelation of his son. Doctrine itself not set you free the person of Christ sets you free. Thats what the church must encounter and come back too. We try and push and inforce old doctrine , God always reveals his son in a new and fresh way. BUt never will it not match up to his word. Do not get me wrong. Some come up with non sense and call it Christ. Christ is the same yesterday today and forever. God bring us a fresh sense of eternity , let Christ be glorfied and magnified. Bring a fresh revelation of your son and his majesty.

Jeremiah 6:16

Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.

Ah yes we are too look to them and stand in them and walk in them , but just as the scriptures themselves do not bring life. In that I mean its the person of Christ that breathes life. Knowing and walking in the light of the scriptures without the person of Christ is nor more life than a muslim. Doctrines and forms or old paths alone do not bring life absent of the majesty of Christ the very person of Christ. John ch 9 the Pharisees were looking for some form some way some doctrine or ritual to explain the blind mans sight. but he could not tell them all he knew was that he was blind and he encountered what the person of Christ and he was set free from being blind. It was not some fashion or from of relgious duty or he did not sit and mediate on moving of God in the past and get set free , he encountered the person of Jesus Christ. I do not neglect the old paths nor not cherish them I hope you see what I am trying to say.

Most certainly it does. Is not the penchant of this day and age bent on something 'new' without regard for the foundation that has already been laid, that continues to wish to reinterpret and re-lay that same foundation ...

Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

That is a 'doctrine' in itself. While recognizing what you mean in the ultimate sense, this still does play right into a mindset that 'It is not needed'. The very fact that there is by and large a refusal to turn back and reclaim, re-learn what has been fought for in tortured blood and death so that we may opinion-ate and traverse great demanding truths is the very blight and pride that has invaded the church in this day.

Might it be said that the whole of scripture is an ancient or Old Path, one that has largely been forsaken for new measurable factors to our modernity.

Everything that you or I know about Jesus Christ can be summed up in His own words; [i]It is written[/i]. It is [i]His[/i] doctrine, his life and His Words that reveal who He is as much as His life encountered. There is no dividing of these things into separate classes, Bible believing and Bible being coexist as a unified whole.

I am not trying to dissuade your intention, it is understood, but I do fear the 'accidental' misapplication that can be taken from a lone understanding.

Oh they most certainly do, they are that life;

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

1Th 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words? Joh 5:46,47

Joh 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Joh 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Joh 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

I understand what the original post means, but the wording is misleading, and could lead someone to think that you disregard the Word of God and the well worn path of righteousness that the saints of old have trod.

I know you don't mean that, thank God.

Take a look at this scripture.

Prov 24v21, 'My son, fear the Lord and the king, do not associate with those GIVEN TO CHANGE.

vs 22, 'For their calamity will rise suddenly, and who knows the ruin those two can bring?

I don't want to change the meaning of the scripture here, but my emphasis is on those who are given to change. Always looking for new things, novelties. Why?

That, as has been said, is rampant in the church right now.

And it is not of God, but of men.

How do we know it is of men and not God?

Because it doesn't last, it's just a fad that
will soon pass.

I don't know what 'new things' Christians are looking for.

Something to keep them 'going' until Jesus returns?
