Walking with Christ is said to be where the rubber meets the road......so I would like some down to earth spiritual advice.
I met an old school friend(30 yrs. alumni!) whom I've ocassionally ran into thru the years.
We had coffee together; talked of old times, etc..
He ask me to get together some with him, dinner, movies, outdoor excursions, etc..
He is a Christian(saved when teenager - as was I).
Apparently as adults we lived different choices.
By God's grace, I left a drug influenced lifestyle and have walked with the Lord- certainly not without failings; while he as an adult fell into alcoholism; two failed marriages; domestic battery charges.
I know his parents, both godly Christians and can only imagine their sorrow over their son.
He says he has been to rehab, both secular and Christian. And he has been trying to repair his broken relationship with his two grown children.
He and his second wife have been separated five years and now filing for divorce.
But I wonder if I'm stepping in a big mess to 'see' him as a friend and brother in the Lord?
I've never married and told him I was not interested in marriage or any romantic ties with anyone. Talking with him as an old school alumni; meeting his parents, who are absolutely delightful was fun. His mother has very serious health problems as well.
Please give a sister some advice.
