Preaching is not conversation. Preaching is not discussion. Preaching is not casual talk about religious things. Preaching is not simply teaching. Preaching is the heralding of a message permeated by the sense of God’s greatness and majesty and holiness. The topic may be anything under the sun, but it is always brought into the blazing light of God’s greatness and majesty in his word.

How many preachers do you know of that preach from the Word in the way that Piper describes? Let's pray together that God will raise up ministers of such calibre for today.

I have noticed that there are those preachers who preaching nothing but expository...and it lulls the sheep to sleep.

Then there are those who preach with nothing but heart but leave the sheep hungry.

But then there's the men that have been in nothing but God's presence...who can expound on God's Word because they've heard God's voice...who can preach from the heart because they've heard God's heart... and who lead the sheep in growth because they're God's shepherd..... Praise the Lord for these men...
