Sobering Statistics

I posted these in the 'Death awaits' thread in the devotional section, but i thought these statistics where so......speaking for them selfes...i post them here to.

6,571,497,332 people live on earth

1,200,000,000 people live on $0.23 a day

2,000,000,000 people have no electricity

80% of people live in substandard housing

1,000,000,000 people are without safe drinking water

Every 16 seconds someone dies of hunger

57,000,000 people died in 2006

10,500,000 of these were children under 5 years old

14,000,000 children were orphaned because of HIV + AIDS

2,000,000 children have died as a direct result of armed conflict in the last ten years

Meanwhile…

$8,000,000,000.00 spent on cosmetics in the U.S.

$11,000,000,000.00 spent on ice cream in Europe

$17,000,000,000.00 spent on pet food in the U.S. and Europe

$105,000,000,000.00 spent on alcohol in Europe

It’s our turn, what kind of testimony do we have?

The Fellowship of the Unashamed comes to mind

I am part of the "Fellowship of the Unashamed."

The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line.

The decision has been made. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.

I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.

My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure.

I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning,
smooth knees, colorless dreams, chintzy giving, and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position,
promotions, plaudits, or popularity.

I now live by presence, lean by faith, love by patience,
lift by prayer, labor by power.

My pace is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven,
my road is narrow, my way is rough,
my companions few, my God reliable,
my mission clear.

I cannot be bought, compromised, deterred,
lured away, turned back, diluted, or delayed.

I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice,
hesitate in the presence of adversity’
negotiate at the table of the enemy,
ponder at the pool of popularity,
or meander in the maze of mediocrity.

I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.

I must go until Heaven returns,
give until I drop, preach until all know,
and work until He comes.

And when He comes to get His own,
He will have no problem recognizing me.

My colors will be clear.

Just a thought, but how much do we spend on Bibles and Bible reference books here in North America?

i listened to a sermon by K.P yohannan yesterday, he said something like, - you have one bible and if you have read two books about the bible in some country's you would be considered a theologian because you know so much, in china he said they where extremely happy if they had two bibles per church!

i think its J.A James who said something like has all your knowledge made you holier? if not its worthless......

my self i have maybe 100 books and concordances and commentarys... and different versions of the bible.... its not a bad thing, but if its all i got its sad....
