I'm very upset

S

Yesterday, my husband, who was a severe alcoholic and hasn't drank since August, 04, drank. He has acquired some friends (a young couple who live nearby) through his business of taxidermy and they have been coming around alot. Just the other day, I found a box of beer covered with a blanket in our basement and I asked my husband what that was all about. He told me it belonged to that couple, that they had come by one evening when I wasn't home and they had been drinking and left it there, so he covered it up 'cause he didn't want people to see it in his work space.

I told him the first time I met them that I had a bad feeling about these folks. He has invited me to go over to their house and I have refused. I've continually told him that there's something about them that feels very wrong in the spirit.

So, yesterday, my husband disappeared for hours and wouldn't answer his cellphone and when he finally came dragging in, the first words out of his mouth was, "the answer is, 'yes', I have been drinking." Then, later, when I found out where he went and who he drank with, I was livid.
I sOOOOOOOO want to go over to their house and tell them to never come on our property again! These people have no idea what I've been through for the past 12 years! This is not some casual, harmless thing they are doing! I'm very angry! I have known from the beginning that these people were not going to be good for my family.

I need to know how to handle this. Dian.

Dear sister, I can imagine the barrage of emotions you must be dealing with, in addition to the anger. I will pray that God will give you peace and wisdom in dealing with this situation.

I can feel your frustration.

He has invited me to go over to their house and I have refused.
Perhaps it would have been better that you had gone, not for your sake, but your husbands sake. He may need your strength at this point in time as he seems to be weak in saying no. The next time he goes over there, maybe you should tag along and nip this thing in the bud.

Before you go, cast this whole thing over to the LORD ask Him to give you peace about it and be done with it. Perhaps this might be a good opportunity to share the gospel. God always takes a bad situation and turns it to good.

I went to see the couple this morning after some time on my knees. I gave them our testimony and asked them to please refrain from spending time with my husband while drinking.

They were very nice. Said they were sorry, they had no idea. Promised not to drink with my husband anymore. Said they respected me for coming to them in the way that I did. God gave me the grace to speak with love and not sin. I felt very relieved and felt that I had done that which was my part in protecting my home.

Thanks for your prayers. Dian.

Dear Dian

Only just read this thread, so hadn't prayed yet! Maybe the warning in the Spirit wasn't so much against this couple but the danger they represented to your husband, and so the attack on you as well.

But the Lord is turning the situation around - maybe this couple will come to Him through this, and so what Satan intended for evil will be used for good!

I can't empathise with your situation, but can pray.

Love in Him

Jeannette
